Keynan Middleton To Have Season-Ending Surgery
6 months agoSt. Louis Cardinals reliever Keynan Middleton (forearm) will have season-ending surgery to fix the flexor tendon in his right arm. The timing of the procedure next week will give him a chance to return next season. The Cardinals signed Middleton to a one-year deal during spring training to serve in a key late-inning setup role, but he'll now miss all of 2024 with his forearm injury. It remains to be seen if the Cardinals will pick up the 30-year-old veteran's $6 million option for the 2025 season. Middleton has 15 career saves in his seven years in the big leagues and had a 3.38 ERA (4.20 FIP), a 1.24 WHIP, two saves, 23 walks and a career-high 64 strikeouts in 50 2/3 relief innings for the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees in 2023. He has a long rehab road ahead of him going into 2025.
