2 years agoBaltimore Orioles shortstop Jorge Mateo (hip) said he is available to play off the bench on Friday against the Detroit Tigers, and he should be 100 percent healthy by Saturday. Mateo is dealing with a minor hip injury and should be back in the starting lineup on Saturday for his fantasy managers. The 27-year-old has been excellent for the O's and fantasy managers alike early on this year, slashing .362/.418/.638 with a 1.056 OPS, four doubles, three home runs, 12 RBI, eight stolen bases and 13 runs scored in 16 games. Don't expect things to be this great all year, but Mateo is rolling to begin the season and needs to be rostered everywhere. Gunnar Henderson is at short and is hitting seventh, while Ramon Urias is at third and batting eighth on Friday against Tigers right-hander Michael Lorenzen.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
