Joe Palumbo Likely To Start Saturday
6 years agoTexas Rangers starting pitching prospect Joe Palumbo is likely to be called up from Double-A Frisco to start one of the games of a doubleheader on Saturday against the A's. The 24-year-old, the team's No. 7 prospect per MLB Pipeline, has allowed five earned runs in 17 2/3 innings with seven walks and 21 strikeouts in his last four starts in the minors. The Rangers will likely ask Palumbo to go three or four innings and be followed by a right-hander. Overall at Frisco this year, the left-hander has a 3.38 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and impressive 11.5 K/9 over nine starts and one relief outing. Because he's unlikely to pitch deep into the game on Saturday, he makes for too risky of a fantasy streamer.
