The Boston Red Sox's 12th overall pick in the 2016 draft has undergone successful Tommy John surgery. Jay Groome (elbow) is the second best prospect in the Red Sox system, only behind third baseman Michael Chavis. Groome is a big lefty who has struggled with injuries throughout his young career. However, at only 19 years of age, Groome will have plenty of time to get his game back on track. Groome only managed to pitch 44 1/3 innings at Single-A during 2017 and had a disappointing 6.70 ERA to show for it. As of right now, Groome should not be in fantasy consideration, even in the deepest of dynasty leagues. Monitor his progress throughout 2019 to see how he recovers from the surgery.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBallerRead More News
