Javier Baez Back For Game 1 Of Doubleheader
2 years agoDetroit Tigers shortstop Javier Baez (hand) is back in the starting lineup for Game 1 of a doubleheader on Saturday against the Baltimore Orioles. Baez is serving as the designated hitter and is batting third in the lineup against Orioles right-hander Dean Kremer. Baez was hit by a pitch on his left hand on Wednesday, but X-rays came back negative and he's ready to return this weekend. After a slow start offensively, the 30-year-old Puerto Rican slugger has fared better of late and is now hitting .234 (18-for-77) with four doubles, eight RBI, two stolen bases and seven runs scored in 22 games. He's still searching for his first home run, but he's gone 14-for-37 (.378) with four doubles and seven RBI in his last 11 games played.
