Jahmyr Gibbs Projected To Be Lions' Lead Back
2 years agoThe Detroit Lions surprisingly took Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs with the No. 12 overall pick in the first round of Thursday night's NFL draft. How he fits in Detroit's backfield will be interesting with D'Andre Swift and David Montgomery already in the fold. It's hard to know exactly what the team's long-term play is, but The Athletic's Diante Lee writes that we can assume that Gibbs is projected to be the lead back. Gibbs led the Crimson Tide in rushing, receptions and kick-return yards in 2022. He's a dynamic talent with the ball in his hands in space, and it's hard to imagine him sitting on the bench too much in his rookie year. The 21-year-old will be more attractive in PPR leagues right away, but it's hard to get too excited about him in fantasy in this crowded Lions backfield.
