Jack Flaherty Taken Deep Three Times In Loss
6 months agoDetroit Tigers right-hander Jack Flaherty has had an amazing season in 2024, but it wasn't his night on Thursday on the road against the hosting Los Angeles Angels. Flaherty allowed five earned runs on seven hits (season-high three home runs) while walking one and striking out seven in 5 2/3 innings of work to even out his record at 5-5 in the loss. Fantasy managers won't be complaining about the seven strikeouts, but it just wasn't Flaherty's night as his season ERA was raised to a still very respectable 3.24. The poor outing snapped the 28-year-old's streak of allowing one run or fewer in four straight starts. Aside the allowing three home runs on Thursday, though, it wasn't a terrible performance. Fantasy managers should still consider Flaherty a must-start given the way he's pitched in 2024. He currently ranks third in baseball with a 33% strikeout rate.
