Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitcher Gunnar Hoglund (elbow), the team's first-round pick last year, had Tommy John surgery nine months and eight days ago on May 17, 2021. He's now throwing off flat ground at 120 feet and is building up to return to the mound. The next step is to throw from 150 feet off flat ground and then get back on the mound. Hoglund said the process has gone "very smoothly" and without issues. The Blue Jays believe in Hoglund's arsenal, as well as his ability to throw strikes and locate his pitches at an advanced level. The best-case scenario is that he returns to game action in the minors at midseason. The 22-year-old ended last year as Toronto's No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, but he may not be a realistic rotation arm until 2024.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
