2 years agoBoston Red Sox right-hander Garrett Whitlock (hip) is likely to make his 2023 season debut next Tuesday on the road against the Tampa Bay Rays. Whitlock has slowly been making his way back after having hip surgery in the offseason, and he's scheduled to make one more minor-league rehab start for Triple-A Worcester before the Red Sox activate him from the injured list early next week. The 26-year-old is expected to play a key role in Boston's starting rotation this year, although workload restrictions could keep his fantasy ceiling rather low in 2023. Still, Whitlock is worth a waiver-wire pickup for those looking for rotation depth early in the year.
