Falcons Agree With A.J. McCarron
4 years agoThe Atlanta Falcons agreed to terms with free-agent quarterback A.J. McCarron on an undisclosed deal on Friday, locking him in as their backup to Matt Ryan after they did not select a signal-caller with the No. 4 overall pick in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft on Thursday night. Atlanta took Florida tight end Kyle Pitts at fourth overall instead, giving Ryan another dangerous weapon at his disposal. It was only a matter of time before the Falcons added another QB, as Ryan was the only quarterback on the roster before McCarron's signing. The Falcons could still draft a QB this year, but McCarron at least gives them a little insurance. The 30-year-old has thrown for 1,173 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions in 17 career games (four starts) for the Cincinnati Bengals, Oakland Raiders and Houston Texans.
