Dodgers Targeting Late-April Return For Tony Gonsolin
2 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin (ankle) rolled his left ankle while going through drills on a back field at camp on March 6, which will put him on the injured list to begin the 2023 regular season. Gonsolin threw a bullpen session of around 20 to 25 pitches on March 27, and manager Dave Roberts said he's still "a ways away," with the Dodgers targeting the end of April for his return. The Dodgers aren't rushing the 28-year-old back to the starting rotation. With Gonsolin sidelined early on, Ryan Pepiot will join the rotation for a couple of starts. Gonsolin was a Cy Young contender in the National League last year, but he tailed off towards the end of the year and was hurt. Expect regression from a season ago.
