Dinelson Lamet Having Good Offseason
4 years agoSan Diego Padres general manager A.J. Preller said that starting pitcher Dinelson Lamet (biceps), who was shut down prior to the playoffs last year, is having a great offseason health-wise. The Padres acquisitions of starters Blake Snell, Yu Darvish and Joe Musgrove this offseason were more geared for the jump from a 60-game regular season in 2020 to a potential full 162-game season in 2021, rather than Lamet's injury concerns. Preller also indicated that the team could use a six-man rotation this season, which would benefit Lamet, since he's never thrown more than 114 1/3 innings in a season in the majors. The 28-year-old had a pristine 2.09 ERA before his injury. Lamet is a health risk going into 2021 drafts, but he has top-25 upside if he can remain healthy in the Friars loaded rotation.
