Didi Gregorius Down To Phillies, Reds?
4 years agoFree-agent shortstop Didi Gregorius' top two choices are likely the Philadelphia Phillies or Cincinnati Reds after Marcus Semien signed with the Blue Jays, Andrelton Simmons agreed with the Twins and Freddy Galvis joined the Orioles on Tuesday. Gregorius' asking price is thought to be two years and $30 million. The 30-year-old Gregorius might not have the glove of a Simmons or Galvis, but his bat is more attractive than any of the three previously named shortstops. He hit .284/.339/.488 with 10 home runs and 40 RBI in the shortened 2020 season. Gregorius was a disappointment in his last year with the Yankees when he hit just .238/.276/.441 with 16 homers and 61 RBI in 82 games in 2019, but he had 20-plus round-trippers in each of the previous three years with New York and could be a fine middle infield option in mixed leagues at his current 162 average draft position.
