Cristian Javier Fires Six No-Hit Innings in Win
Houston Astros right-hander Cristian Javier turned in a brilliant performance in a 2-0 shutout of the Los Angeles Angels on Friday. Making his fourth start since returning from 2024 Tommy John surgery, Javier threw six no-hit innings and posted six strikeouts against three walks. The Astros, who are understandably playing it safe with Javier, pulled him after 85 pitches (51 strikes). Despite his excellent performance on Friday, Javier did not factor into the decision. He's 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, and 16:9 K:BB in his first 16 innings since returning. Javier is scheduled to make his next start against the New York Yankees on Sept. 4.
