Connor Norby Could Join Orioles In Miami
5 months agoBaltimore Orioles infield prospect Connor Norby is headed to Miami as a precaution after infielder Jorge Mateo suffered an elbow injury on Tuesday during a collision with teammate Gunnar Henderson, according to a source. Norby, the team's No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline, made his big-league debut earlier this year but only appeared in four games and went 3-for-14 (.214) with a homer, two RBI and three strikeouts. The 24-year-old will make his return to the big leagues if Baltimore has to put Mateo on the 10-day injured list. The former second-round pick in 2021 out of East Carolina has hit .297/.389/.519 with a .908 OPS, 16 homers, 57 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 80 games for Triple-A Norfolk and could get more run at the keystone in Baltimore if Mateo goes on the shelf. Norby's power/speed combination makes him intriguing in all fantasy formats.
