After a slight dry spell since his three straight wins earlier this season, Christopher Bell had one of his low-key best runs of the season at Kansas. In a race where nearly most of the Toyotas struggled for speed including expected contenders like Tyler Reddick, Bell passed Chris Buescher for second on the opening lap and remained both the highest Toyota and in the top five for nearly the entire race. Although he was no match for Kyle Larson and was generally slower than him over long runs, he briefly led for three laps after beating Larson out of the pits before Larson quickly dispatched him on the ensuing restart. While Larson certainly outperformed him, Bell's performance was closer than it looked since the Hendrick Motorsports cars were vastly faster than any Toyotas. Bell improved from 6th to 3rd in points and came three points closer to the regular season points lead, but still sits 83 points behind Larson.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller
