Carson Wentz Handling Benching Like A Pro
4 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson has been impressed with the way quarterback Carson Wentz has handled losing the starting job to rookie Jalen Hurts. ESPN reported last week that Wentz was unhappy with the current situation and that he was "not interested" in backing up Hurts. But Pederson said Wentz hasn't allowed the switch to divide the locker room. "That's one thing that Carson has not allowed that to happen and he's not going to let it happen. He's been a pro about it, and he's been very talkative in the meetings..." Pederson said. The coach said Wentz has been "engaging" on the sidelines before and during games and praised Wentz for how he's run the scout team. Wentz's future with the organization is shaky, at best, but he reportedly wants to remain with the team beyond this season. The 28-year-old was an MVP candidate as recently as 2017, but he's bound to move on if the Eagles are prepared to roll with Hurts as the starter into next season.
