Cameron Meredith 2018 Outlook: Is There Enough Targets In New Orleans?
6 years agoA popular sleeper heading into the 2017 season was then Chicago Bears receiver Cam Meredith. If it wasn’t for a pre-season injury that ended the 2017 before it began, he may have lived up to those expectations. The last time we saw Meredith on a field, he was finishing the season strong. From Weeks 12 through 16, Meredith caught 31 of 43 targets for 439 yards and two touchdowns. During that stretch, Meredith was the WR9 in PPR leagues.
Since 2015, the Saints receiver to have the second most targets on the team have averaged 68 receptions for 928 yards and five touchdowns. That would have been good enough for the WR24 season in 2017. It will hinge on the passing game work for running backs once again, but if Brees has a better supporting cast of receivers, Mark Ingram may not need as much work in the pass game. Meredith could be a nice WR3 or flex play in 2018 with some weekly upside.
