Cal Raleigh Makes History on Friday
Cal Raleigh continued his remarkable first half of the season in a 9-4 win over the Chicago Cubs on Friday. The switch-hitting Raleigh smashed two homers, drove in three runs, scored four times, and drew a walk in a 3-for-4 day. Having gone deep a league-leading 29 times this year, Raleigh now holds the record for most HRs by a catcher before the All-Star break. That honor previously belonged to the legendary Johnny Bench, who swatted 28 before the break in 1970. Raleigh still has 22 games left until the Midsummer Classic to continue building on his new record. In addition to his historic HR total, Raleigh is slashing a tremendous .273/.379/.646 with 63 RBI, 51 runs, and nine stolen bases. He has been a fantasy manager's dream this year.
