Buccaneers, Donovan Smith Agree To Extension
4 years agoThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed left tackle Donovan Smith to a two-year, $31.8 million contract extension through the 2023 season on Wednesday, according to sources. Smith's deal now includes $30 million guaranteed over the next two seasons. The move helped create more room under the salary cap for this season while also maintaining continuity on the offensive line on quarterback Tom Brady's blind side. Smith would've counted $14.25 million against the salary cap in 2021 if he had played under his old deal. He'll now count $3.6 million against the cap, freeing up an extra $10.65 million. Smith has missed just two regular season games in six seasons, but he struggled at times last season.
