Brian Burns Won't Need Surgery
4 years agoCarolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule said that pass-rusher Brian Burns (knee) didn't practice on Wednesday, but he will not require surgery. Offensive lineman Russell Okung (hip) and cornerback Troy Pride also missed practice Wednesday. Burns, 22, has been fantasy relevant this year with his 56 combined tackles (seven for loss), 20 QB hits, three passes defensed, three forced fumbles and eight sacks in 14 games. While it's good news that he won't need surgery, it remains up in the air as to whether he can play in the final two regular season games against the Washington Football Team and Saints. Burns ranks fourth among defensive linemen in fantasy points through 14 games. The Panthers Defense could be a potential streaming defense in Week 16 if Dwayne Haskins Jr. sees another start under center for Washington, but only in deeper formats.
