Avisail Garcia Designated For Assignment
6 months agoMiami Marlins outfielder Avisail Garcia is being designated for assignment by the team on Tuesday, according to sources. Garcia is in the third year of a four-year, $53 million contract, so the Marlins will eat almost $24 million on the deal with the move. The 32-year-old played in only 18 games for the Fish this year and went 12-for-50 (.240) with two home runs and two RBI while missing time due to a hamstring injury. The former All-Star in 2017 with the Chicago White Sox has aged poorly in the last three years since clubbing 29 homers and driving in 86 in 2021 in his final year with the Milwaukee Brewers. In his three years with Miami, Garcia slashed just .218/.260/.322 with 13 homers, 49 RBI and six stolen bases in 153 games played. The veteran outfielder will now look for another opportunity as outfield depth with another club.
