Angels Acquire Andrew Chafin, Luis Garcia From Nationals
Andrew Chafin and right-handed reliever Luis Garcia from the Washington Nationals on Wednesday in exchange for minor-league first baseman Sam Brown and left-hander Jake Eder, a source tells The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal. The Angels are officially buyers at this year's trade deadline despite being four games out of the final American League wild-card spot with four teams in front of them, although this is a minor trade. The 35-year-old Chafin will give the Halos another lefty for their bullpen after posting a 2.70 ERA, 1.60 ERA and 18:12 K:BB in 20 innings with the Nats this year. Garcia has already pitched for Washington and the Dodgers this year and will return to Anaheim after being traded from the Angels to Red Sox a year ago. The 38-year-old has struggled with a 4.10 ERA in 37 1/3 total innings in 2025.
