Alex Smith's Injury Not Related To Broken Leg
4 years agoWashington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith (calf) said his right calf strain is not at all related to his previous broken leg that almost ended his career and caused him to almost lose his leg. Smith said it was "a freak thing" that was minor the week before and became a bigger issue in the Week 14 win over the 49ers. "I feel alright. ... It's early in the week, and we'll see how it goes," Smith said. The veteran signal-caller didn't practice Wednesday and the team isn't pressuring him to get on the field, as his injury requires rest and rehab over repetitions. Smith has helped the offense improve tremendously since he earned the starting job in Week 9, but it hasn't exactly translated to fantasy success. He'll be just a low-end QB2 if he starts against Seattle, while Dwayne Haskins will get the nod if Smith isn't cleared.
