Alex Cobb Starts Rehab Assignment
Alex Cobb (hip) completed a bullpen session on Tuesday and was scheduled to start a minor-league rehab assignment with High-A West Michigan, according to the Detroit News' Chris McCosky. Cobb is finally ready to pitch in actual games after battling right-hip inflammation since the start of spring training back in February. Even if the 37-year-old veteran doesn't experience any setbacks as he begins to ramp up, he's not expected back until at least late June. And when Cobb is activated from the injured list, he won't be guaranteed a starting-rotation spot with the first-place Tigers. The former fourth-rounder by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2006 was a first-time All-Star in 2023 with the San Francisco Giants but made just three starts for the Cleveland Guardians in 2024 and won't have much fantasy upside if he does start games for the Tigers in 2025.
