NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for Monday, November 13th, 2023

Connor McDavid - NHL DFS lineup picks daily fantasy hockey

Jon Irvin's NHL DFS picks for today's contests on FanDuel and DraftKings. Use Jon's picks to win money playing NHL DFS on 11/13/23.

Hey, Rotoballers! I’d like to introduce myself formally, my name is Jon Irvin. Some of you may know me from the Discord channels and know I love breaking down dfs slates especially in MLB and NHL. I enjoy the deep dumpster diving so to speak, and look forward to helping find the low owned overlooked, and unwanted plays. I predominantly play on DraftKings so some of my picks are more tailored to their point/price system but a good spot is a good spot regardless of platform.

Today's DFS content will be for the main slate for both DraftKings and FanDuel for Monday, November 13th, 2023. By now we're a few weeks into the season and most teams have played at least ten games which begins to strengthen trends, both positive and negative.  Tonight we're faced with another small slate, with only two games to pick, getting different will set us apart.

After reading this, jump into the RotoBaller Discord NHL channel and chat it up with all the other great minds about today's slate. Don’t forget to also check out our valuable NHL tools including the new NHL DFS Heat Map.

NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 11/13/23

Another Monday morning, another trip to the fantasy Salvation Army. Let this article be your primer for tonight's slate, but make sure you keep these value plays in the back of your mind because they're not going away quietly. I've noticed these past few weeks the players listed in the article may not necessarily over-perform tonight, but are in prime spots and have done well in the following game or two.

Colorado and Edmonton are our high-flying offenses tonight that will surely garner the majority of the ownership. The Oilers and Connor McDavid are always fan favorites but with a new coaching staff and a team underperforming, we may pump the brakes a little tonight and shift our attention elsewhere.

DraftKings and FanDuel Goalies - NHL DFS Picks

Another Monday, another stab at taking goalie versus Edmonton. The Islanders have taken a step back this year defensively and have been a somewhat easy target. NYI is giving up over 35 SOG/60 and EDM is firing at nearly the same rate which should bode well for save opportunities.

Ilya Sorokin DK $7.5K || FD $8.3K

Opponent - Edmonton Oilers

The goalie duo of Sorokin and Varlamov have struggled recently but mainly due to the fact that their team has hung them out to dry. Usually, we try to stay clear of goalies that teams are giving up a ton of scoring and high-danger chances, but on a two-game slate, our options are limited. Both netminders have the ability to stonewall opponents and being the second cheapest option is enough of a savings to warrant the risk.

Others to consider: Joey Daccord ( DK $7.1K || FD $7.9K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NHL DFS Picks

 Ross Colton DK $3.3K || FD $4.2K

With Colorado heading into Seattle tonight, I expect the Kraken to shift most of their attention to stopping the top two lines.  Colton has seen his price rise recently due to solid contributions. One of the downfalls of running value lines is the lack of 5v5 TOI, unfortunately, Colton has been skating only 13-15 minutes and sees little time on the power play unit.

Fortunately, November has brought out the best of our value center, in the five games this month he has 2 goals to go along with his 15 shots.  Not bad production and exactly what we need while saving a buck or two.

Opponent - Seattle Kraken

Others to consider: Jean-Gabriel Pageau ( DK $3.0K || FD $4.0K )

DraftKings and FanDuel Wings - NHL DFS Picks

Jonathan Drouin - DK $3.4K || FD $3.6K

With Artturi Lehkonen on the shelf with a lengthy injury, Drouin is being placed back up on COL 1 flanking Nathan MacKinnon. Drouin has been a somewhat disappointing addition for the Avs, he has yet to score a goal and only has two assists on the year.  Eventually sharing the ice with one of the league's best centers will pay dividends.

Stats and metrics are in Drouin's favor for a breakout game. His xGF is sitting a full goal over recent production which tells me that he may light the lamp soon.

Opponent -Edmonton Oilers

Others to consider: Logan O'Connor ( DK $2.9K || FD $3.7K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Defensemen - NHL DFS Picks

Justin Schultz - DK $3.0K || FD $4.5K

Schultz's production is far from reliable but for mere peanuts, he can easily hit value. Consistency has been the blueliner's issue this year, with the ability to easily put up double digits yet skunk us with a zero, Shultz is nothing more than a flier discount defenseman.

Opponent - Colorado Avalanche

Others to consider: Jamie Oleksiak (DK $3.2K || FD $4.1K )

JIrv’s Discount Stacks and Sample Lineups

I'm not a fan of two gamers, just not enough hockey for me. My strategy on these slates is to find your favorite spot and stack at least 5 skaters, getting the most exposure to a spot is always a good idea. Don't be afraid to go off the beaten path and distinguish yourself from the masses, and as always good luck Rotoballers!
