MLB DFS: DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (5/22/24) - Today's Top Lineups

Freddy Peralta - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Injury News

The top MLB DFS daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel, DraftKings on May 22, 2024. Mike Barner's MLB DFS sleepers picks for building optimal DFS rosters.

There are 15 games scheduled to be played across baseball on Wednesday. DraftKings will include 10 of them in their main evening slate, while FanDuel will roll with just eight of them for their main slate.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 5/22/2024, with the slate starting at 6:40 p.m. EDT. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is also essential.

Good luck, RotoBallers!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Freddy Peralta at MIA ($10,200 DraftKings; $10,000 FanDuel)

Peralta was roughed up by the Astros in his last outing, giving up five runs over five innings. He did finish with six strikeouts, leaving him with a 31.2 percent strikeout rate for the season. This is a great bounce-back spot for him against the Marlins, who have the second-worst OPS in baseball.

Nestor Cortes Jr. vs. SEA ($9,300 DraftKings; $9,600 FanDuel)

Cortes has a 3.11 FIP and a 0.90 WHIP at home since the start of the 2021 season. On the road, he only has a 4.12 FIP and a 1.20 WHIP. This season, he has a 0.65 WHIP over his five home starts. Combining his success at home with facing a Mariners team that has struck out the most times in baseball, Cortes has plenty of upside.

Chris Bassitt vs. CWS ($7,200 DraftKings; $8,400 FanDuel)

After getting off to a terrible start, Bassitt has started to settle down. He has logged at least 5.2 innings and allowed three or fewer runs in each of his last three starts. What has done in his ERA was an outing against the loaded Dodgers lineup in which he allowed seven runs over 2.2 innings. This is a favorable opportunity for him to improve his ERA further, given that the White Sox have scored the fewest runs in baseball.

Also consider: Jared Jones vs. SF, Tyler Glasnow vs. ARI

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Freddie Freeman – 1B, LAD vs. Ryne Nelson ($5,700 DK; NA FD)

Nelson is someone to attack in DFS, although this game is only included in the DraftKings slate. Last season, Nelson produced a 5.31 ERA and 5.07 FIP across 144 innings. Over his first seven starts this year, he has a 7.06 ERA and a 4.17 FIP. He doesn’t miss many bats, registering a career 16.3 percent strikeout rate. One of the top members of the Dodgers to roll with is Freeman, who is 18-for-60 (.300) with a .533 slugging percentage over his last 17 games.

Bo Bichette – SS, TOR vs. Nick Nastrini ($4,600 DK; $3,100 FD)

It was only a matter of time before Bichette, who has a career .294 batting average, got back on track at the plate. Over his last 10 games, he is 13-for-37 (.351) with a home run and four doubles. Look for him to stay hot in a matchup against Nastrini, who has a 5.83 ERA and 1.51 WHIP over six starts at Triple-A. In two starts for the White Sox in April, he allowed nine runs (eight earned) over eight innings.

Abraham Toro – 2B/3B, OAK vs. Austin Gomber ($4,000 DK; NA FD)

This is the second night game that is included on DraftKings but not FanDuel. Gomber has a 3.02 ERA, but his 4.83 FIP indicates that he has not pitched that well. The Athletics don’t have a ton of depth within their lineup, but Toro is batting .294 with a .353 wOBA. He has really done damage against left-handed pitchers, batting .358 with a .396 wOBA against them.

Also consider: Mookie Betts, Alec Bohm, Joey Ortiz

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Shohei Ohtani – OF, LAD vs. Ryne Nelson ($6,500 DK; NA FD)

Going back to the Dodgers facing Nelson, Ohtani should be one of the most popular hitters for this slate, regardless of position. He has a 1.095 OPS at home this season and a 1.204 OPS versus right-handed pitchers. Last season, he had a 1.132 OPS against righties.

Brent Rooker - OF, OAK vs. Austin Gomber ($4,500 DK; NA FD)

Rooker brings a ton of power to the plate. After recording a .242 ISO last year, he has a .295 ISO this year. Gomber has problems keeping hitters inside the ballpark, giving up 1.7 HR/9 last season. This year, he has already been taken deep eight times over 50.2 innings.

Jackson Merrill – OF, SD vs. Nick Martinez ($3,700 DK; $2,700 FD)

Merrill has not been overmatched during his rookie campaign, recording just a 16.7 percent strikeout rate. He hasn’t provided much power, but he is batting .284 with a 45.7 percent hard-hit rate. Martinez has been difficult on right-handed hitters, holding them to a .271 wOBA since the beginning of last season. However, lefties had a .325 wOBA against him. At such cheap salaries on both sites, Merrill is worth a look in tournament play.

Also consider: Kyle Schwarber, Teoscar Hernandez, Daulton Varsho

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

1. Dodgers vs. Ryne Nelson

2. Phillies vs. Dane Dunning

3. Blue Jays vs. Nick Nastrini
