Matthew Stafford fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 8 (2024). Our advice on whether you should start or sit Stafford for your fantasy lineups.
BALLER MOVE: Benching Stafford in all 1-QB formats unless you don't have a better option
POSITIONAL VALUE: Low-end QB2
ANALYSIS: Matthew Stafford has just one QB1 finish on the year (QB12 in Week 1), and the Rams offense has been sputtering without wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. It's not all on Stafford, as he's still a solid quarterback, but without those weapons, he looks mortal. Kupp is expected to make his return in Week 8 on Thursday Night Football, but it's against the Minnesota Vikings.
You are better off sitting Stafford this week and waiting for a more favorable matchup.
If the Rams traded Cooper Kupp ($27m) and Matthew Stafford ($68m), they'd have to eat about $100 million dead cap. Making sure the group knows that.

There has been a little bit of chatter about Stafford being traded, but it doesn't appear that there is much validity to those rumors right now. Once the Rams have all their skill players back and the offense is humming again, then you can feel good about starting Stafford in fantasy.
