BALLER MOVE: Start in 10+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: Risky RB2/FLEX option with upside
ANALYSIS: Walker III had an impressive rookie season by finishing with seven touchdowns. As a result, it appeared he was in line to be the No. 1 option on the depth chart heading into the 2023-24 campaign. But when the team selected UCLA running back Zach Charbonnet in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Walker's path to a monopoly for carries out of the backfield appeared to hit a roadblock. Or at least that's what was expected.
Yet, Walker began the year with a bang, finding the end zone six times in the Seahawks' first five games. Unfortunately, he only has one touchdown since then (as a receiver). Even worse, the 23-year-old has ceded touches to Charbonnet more consistently since the beginning of the year. He also missed two games with an oblique injury suffered in the Week 11, one-point loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Walker didn't look great as a runner in his Week 14 return against the 49ers, amassing just eight carries for 21 yards, with Charbonnet gaining 44 yards off nine touches.
Granted, the Seahawks needed to throw more in the second half after San Francisco built a decisive lead. However, Walker's lack of production in Week 14 and continuous backfield timeshare with Charbonnet makes him hard to trust on Monday night versus the Eagles. At any rate, his stock will rise a little more if Geno Smith returns from his groin issue, which could help keep the game close.
The Eagles' defense also has struggled against opposing backs in the last few weeks. But that still won't make Walker anything more than a high-upside, risky option in Week 15, although he's still worth at least considering for fantasy lineups, especially by those with nowhere else to turn.
