ANALYSIS: The Detroit Tigers have made the move to bring up one of their better bats in the minors as their offense continues to sputter. They've activated 24-year-old Justyn-Henry Malloy and are sending down Spencer Torkelson to Triple-A Toledo.
Malloy arrived at Triple-A at the end of the 2022 season and spent all of the 2023 season with the Mud Hens, racking up 23 home runs while driving in 83 runs. He does strike out quite a bit but also walks a lot while hitting in the .250-.275 range. His OBP has been impressive as he finished with a .417 mark in 2023 and had a .410 mark through 45 games this season.

This season, Malloy was hitting .253 with 15 doubles, six home runs, 27 RBI, 23 runs scored, and 39 walks. He has drawn praise for his excellent patience at the plate. One thing he hasn't done much is steal bases during his time in the minors.
He should get an opportunity to prove himself rather quickly and is eligible at both 3B and OF on Yahoo. Add him in deeper formats if you need another bat, and he could be extra valuable in leagues that use OBP.
