Ryan Clifford, 1B, New York Mets
Level: Double-A
2025 stats: 30 G, .248/.345/.475, 6 HR, 19 RBI, 12 R, 1 SB, 12.9% BB%, 31.9% K%, .328 BABIP, .378 wOBA, 141 wRC+
Clifford is a former 11th-round pick traded from the Astros to the Mets in the Justin Verlander deal two years ago. He has experience as a corner outfielder but has played most of his games at first base this season.
The 21-year-old has solid power from the left side of the plate, but this has occurred alongside significant swing-and-miss concerns. He continues to struggle with strikeouts, going down on strikes nearly one-third of the time this year. With all that being said, he's also capable of working walks. Defensively, he's an average fielder. He could become a designated hitter long-term, requiring him to cut down on strikeouts.
This past week, Clifford went 8-for-19 with three home runs, nine RBI, one walk, and four strikeouts. Although the K/BB ratio continues to look unpleasant over both a small and large sample size, there's no ignoring his power output and ability to drive in runs.
After a relatively slow start in April, Mets No. 4 prospect Ryan Clifford has taken off in May

JR Ritchie, SP, Atlanta Braves
Level: Double-A
2025 stats: 7 G, 7 GS, 4-1, 41.2 IP, 1.30 ERA, 3.80 FIP, 8.21 K/9, 2.16 BB/9, 0.65 HR/9, 42.2% GB%, .192 BABIP
The Braves selected Ritchie with the 35th overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft. A top prep pitching prospect, he immediately looked like a future star in the Atlanta farm system. He has continued to impress through parts of four seasons with the club, and the early portion of the 2025 campaign is no exception.
Ritchie throws his fastball in the low-to-mid-90s, and he rounds out his repertoire with an impressive changeup and slider. All three of his offerings can be above average, but his slider looks the most lethal. His ability to get spin on breaking balls with ease could allow Ritchie to add a fourth pitch -- the curveball -- to his mix down the road. He has also shown that he can locate pitches nicely.
In his latest outing last week, Ritchie tossed nine shutout innings. This was easily the longest outing of his minor league career, and it was encouraging that the Braves organization trusted him to go the distance in a minor league game. He struck out nine batters, issued just one walk, and allowed just one hit. He has the makings of a future mid-rotation piece at the major league level.

Braden Montgomery, OF, Chicago White Sox
Level: High-A
2025 stats: 30 G, .342/.425/.595, 6 HR, 31 RBI, 22 R, 7 SB, 11.9% BB%, 20.1% K%, .390 BABIP, .465 wOBA, 178 wRC+
Montgomery was the Red Sox's first-round pick last summer, but his time in the Boston farm system was short-lived. The former college baseball star was shipped to the White Sox as one of the headlining pieces in a five-player deal that sent Garrett Crochet to New England.
Montgomery is an advanced hitter from both sides of the plate, using his impressive bat speed to torch the ball to all parts of the field. Although he is a very aggressive hitter who can mash pitches in all parts of the zone, he has also shown advanced pitch selection by walking in more than one-tenth of his plate appearances. Defensively, he should stick in center field long-term thanks to his above-average speed and elite arm strength, which was on display when he pitched out of the bullpen at Texas A&M.
There was no slowing Montgomery down last week. The young outfield star went 10-for-21 with three home runs, two doubles, and 10 RBI. He continued to show advanced decision-making skills at the plate, drawing two walks while striking out just once. There's no such thing as a "sure thing" when talking about prospects, but Montgomery is pretty close. He's destined for stardom at the MLB level.

Jonah Tong, SP, New York Mets
Level: Double-A
2025 stats: 6 G, 6 GS, 1-2, 28.0 IP, 2.57 ERA, 1.82 FIP, 16.39 K/9, 4.50 BB/9, 0.32 HR/9, 59.6% GB%, .319 BABIP
The Mets drafted Tong out of high school in the seventh round of the 2022 MLB Draft. The Ontario-born right-hander made two Double-A starts at the end of last season, and he returned to Binghamton to open the 2025 campaign. He has pitched well at nearly every level, and we can't rule out a promotion to Triple-A by midseason.
Tong touches the mid-90s with his fastball, which rides up in the zone and induces swings and misses. It also leads to plenty of weak contact, as evidenced by his 59.6 percent ground-ball rate. His repertoire also includes a changeup, slider, and curveball. The breaking balls are still in development, and his changeup gets a solid fade but would likely play nicer if he can perfect his slider or curveball.
Facing Reading last week, Tong struck out 13 batters over 6.2 innings of scoreless work. He did not allow a single walk or hit along the way. Although questions exist about the depth of Tong's repertoire, his fastball and his results this season are both very impressive. The upside is high with this right-hander.
ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. ⭐️

Adrian Pinto, 2B, Toronto Blue Jays
Level: High-A
2025 stats: 19 G, .284/.376/.608, 7 HR, 9 RBI, 18 R, 3 SB, 9.4% BB%, 16.5% K%, .264 BABIP, .440 wOBA, 162 wRC+
Pinto signed with the Rockies back in 2019, but he was dealt to the Blue Jays three years later. The 22-year-old is a Venezuelan native, and he's physically undersized at 5-foot-6 and 156 pounds. Pinto's frame has primarily slotted him into the second base position, but he does have some experience at shortstop and in center field.
Pinto has good strike zone awareness, drawing walks 9.4 percent of the time and strikeouts 16.5 percent of the time. He runs quite well and plays solid defense at the keystone.
Last week, Pinto went 7-for-15 with three homers, five RBI, one walk, and one strikeout. He also swiped two bags. All in all, last week represented a solid stretch for the young second base prospect. He faces an uphill battle -- especially due to his undersized frame -- but does gain an advantage from his very aggressive and productive offensive approach.
