FanDuel Studs: Our Best DFS Lineup Picks for Fantasy Football

Each week here at RotoBaller, we provide the subscribers of our DFS Lineup Picks of the Week Newsletter with some of the highest quality advice for salary cap fantasy football on FanDuel.  We also have lots of great FanDuel analysis weekly, so be sure to check back.

Why We Love Weekly FanDuel Football

Are you looking for some more fantasy football action, and want to get involved in weekly DFS games on FanDuel and DraftKings? I know I am. Are you one of those people whose fantasy football team is sporting a lackluster record through the first five weeks of the 2014 NFL season? Are you not that happy with the team you drafted this year in fantasy football? Maybe you are a frustrated AP, Mathews, Ball, Gerhart, Megatron, Green or Cruz owner (just to mention a few on the vast list of disappointments). Well we have the perfect remedy for your fantasy football appetite.

The weekly format of FanDuel fantasy football is just what the doctor ordered. Draft a new team each week, and battle it out against your friends or as many opponents as you please on FanDuel or DraftKings. It's my favorite way to supplement my fantasy football teams, and plug-and-play guys that I wish I owned in my leagues on a weekly basis. After all there's nothing like owning Matt Forte or Aaron Rodgers for one week, when you missed out on them in all of your season-long fantasy football leagues.

Looking for An Edge?

If you play salary cap leagues on FanDuel, then our expert picks can give you the edge you need to win. Each week we analyze the player matchups, and the associated pricing on FanDuel, to identify the sleepers and value picks to put together a winning lineup. With each newsletter, you will receive our well-researched weekly picks for each position, with both a “Strong Play” and a “Value Play”, and we will also include two or three budget buster tournament plays for each position. All in all, you will be receiving a minimum of 12 of our expertly hand-picked recommendations for your gaming pleasure!

We’ve reprinted some of RotoBaller’s lineup picks from last week’s subscribers-only exclusive newsletter to give you an idea of the FanDuel analysis that we put forward each and every week. As you can see below, our experts had some sweet recommendations for Week 9 lineups, so hopefully you got in on the action! And if not, no worries, there’s still plenty of time for Week 10 and beyond.

A Recap of Some DFS Lineup Picks from Week 9

QB (3rd Highest Price) - Tom Brady ($9,000) - It's officially the Week 9 bye week crunch and that includes DFS leagues as well. With 6 NFL teams kicking their feet up and spending time with their families this week, it makes picking a stud quarterback with a reasonable price tag a bit tougher.

Playing at home against bitter rival Peyton Manning and the Broncos is shaping up to be the highest scoring game of Week 9 based on the Vegas projected totals and we want as much of a piece of this action as humanly possible (especially in cash games and double ups).

Although his price has steadily risen, so has his elite quarterback play each and every week since Week 4's humiliating loss to the Chiefs. Since that low water mark, Tommy Terrific has averaged 27.08 FanDuel points per contest and has faced a couple of solid defenses in that span. He is officially our #1 DFS strong play quarterback option for Week 9.

Result: 333 passing yards, 4 TD, 1 INT - BULLSEYE

QB (8th Highest Price) - Ben Roethlisberger ($8,000) - We're not just recommending Big Ben to pay homage to his record Week 8 performance, but this undervalued DFS option is also rated as Pro Football Focus' #1 overall quarterback heading into Week 9.

Let's get a bit more statistically into this matchup for a moment as Roethlisberger faces off against the Baltimore Ravens, who grade out as the 11th worst pass coverage unit in the NFL. Although the Ravens only have allowed an average of 15.84 fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, the two time super bowl winner is third in the league in pass attempts and completion percentage. In fantasy sports opportunities and touches are always the main ingredients for a DFS breakout. Big Ben gives owners that kind of upside every week while costing way less than stars like Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck and Tom Brady in Week 9.

Don't be scared to used this top rated passing star if you want some contrarian tournament-busting upside, or just want to save some money for your cash game lineups.

Result: 340 passing yards, 6 TD - BULLSEYE (2 WEEKS IN A ROW!)

WR (Strong) - Jeremy Maclin ($8,400) - Would you have guessed that Jeremy Maclin is on weekly average the 3rd best wide receiver in FanDuel's scoring system? Well he certainly is and the only stud wide receivers that stand before him are none other than Antonio Brown and Demaryius Thomas.

With that case being stated, let's not overlook the fact that Philadelphia gets to face off against the Houston Texans who've allowed the seventh most fantasy points on average to opposing wide receivers. With Maclin being the primary target monster and the Eagles attempting the fifth most passes in the league through week 8, this former number one overall pick is as safe of a bet to score big as the best in the business.

Result: 6 receptions, 158 receiving yards, 2 TD - BULLSEYE

RB (Strong) - Andre Ellington ($7,700) - Coming into Week 9 as the eighth most expensive running back option, Andre Ellington will be going up against the NFL's sixth worst run defense according to Pro Football Focus. On paper, it seems like a tough matchup for anyone going up against a good Cowboys team, but the second year star is matchup proof at this point because he's the main man in Arizona and the offensive game plan almost always revolves around him touching the ball 20+ times per contest.

Just to clarify why we love this young man, he is seventh in total attempts amongst his piers and ranks third in average running back receiving targets through 8 weeks of action (behind only Matt Forte and Le'Veon Bell). If you're bypassing the top dollar running backs in Week 9, feel confident in making the best player on the Cardinals your RB1.

Result:  95 rushing yards, 4 receptions, 39 receiving yards, 1TD - BULLSEYE

RB (Value) - Ronnie Hillman ($7,200) - It was reported that he tweaked his shoulder in practice on Wednesday, but the good news is that he stayed on the field and will hopefully be 100% good to go on Sunday. This week is especially tantalizing since the Patriots hemorrhage the 4th most fantasy points to opposing running backs at a clip of 22.53 points per game average.

We saw what top dog Matt Forte did to the Patriots last week in the Bears blowout loss, but Week 9 is different than most other weeks because Petyon Manning and his gang of Broncos are traveling to the northeast for a showdown that Las Vegas is projecting to be by far the highest scoring game of the week.

Please be sure to check the gameday reports before blindly getting our favorite Week 9 running back sleeper into your lineup because if it's "all systems go" on Sunday for Hillman, you should figure out a way to get him into your RB2 mix and take advantage of the imminent offensive shootout.

Result:  16 rushing yards, 7 receptions, 47 receiving yards, 2TD - BULLSEYE

Travis Kelce ($5,400) - We're not really in the business of recommending the obvious DFS picks because you don't need us to identify that Rob Gronkowski is the number one tight end option ever week. We like to go deep and identify sleepers like Travis Kelce who has a great shot at finding the end zone against a Jets defense that has given up an average of 11.04 points per game to fantasy tight ends. Feel free to use him in the favorable Week 9 matchup.

Result: 5 receptions, 67 receiving yards, 1 TD - BULLSEYE
