DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks (5/21/16): MLB DFS Advice

Barry Leonard Jr. highlights the top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for 5/21/16. These are the top value and sleeper plays for your DraftKings MLB DFS lineups.

A rainy Saturday in the East awaits today. With so much precipitation hanging around, as always, be sure to double-check your lineup before the contests officially start.

Every team will be in action, making for several great options to fill out your DraftKings lineup. The usual big hitters will be available, as will some fine sleeper picks. Some hot-hitting teams such as the White Sox, Giants, and Red Sox will all provide some top targets.

Some expensive pitcher options such as Jose Fernandez, Jon Lester, and Felix Hernandez will all be on the bump, but none have great matchups other than Hernandez taking on the Reds.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for DraftKings on 5/21/16. The DFS lineup picks will range from high-priced to low-priced options and identify options who will out-perform their expectations, including sleepers and value plays on DraftKings.

DFS Lineup Stacks to Target on DraftKings

New York Mets vs. Zach Davies (RHP)

Davies has turned things around a bit lately, allowing two runs in each of his last three starts. However, he gave up a total of 13 runs in the three previous starts. Lefties have hit well against him this year, making Lucas Duda, Michael Conforto, and Curtis Granderson good stack candidates today for the Mets.

Seattle Mariners vs. John Lamb (LHP)

Lamb was rocked for seven runs his last time out. He's struggled against right-handed batters this year, setting up a good situation for several Mariners today. Ketel Marte and Nelson Cruz are both good plays. Adam Lind is the only Mariner who has ever faced Lamb, and he picked up a double in his only at-bat. Throw in the fact that Seattle gets to play in a hitter's park today, and the Mariners make for a great lineup stack.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider on DraftKings

J.A Happ, TOR at MIN - $8,100

Happ was roughed up his last time out by the Rays and suffered his first loss of the season, surrendering eight earned runs in just two innings of work. Despite that performance, he's 5-1 on the year with an ERA of 3.40. He'll get the Twins today, one of the worst hitting teams in the league. He's allowed two or fewer runs in five of his eight starts this season and should be able to bounce back today.

Jacob deGrom, NYM vs. MIL - $11,400

deGrom has been a bit inconsistent this season and hasn't picked up a win since April 30. Still, he's posted a solid 3-1 record with an ERA of 2.50. He's pitched well in his last two starts, but never factored into the decision. Today he'll go up against the Brewers, a team that's in the middle of the pack as far as hitting goes. On a day that's not filled with the best pitching matchups, deGrom could make for a sneaky play.

DFS Infielders to Consider on DraftKings

Catcher (C)

Dioner Navarro, CWS vs. KC - $3,600

Navarro was given the night off Friday, meaning he'll be well-rested to handle the catching duties for the White Sox today. He has three hits int eh last two games, including a double and a two-hit performance Wednesday. He's average for the season is only .236, but he's got a total of 25 fantasy points in his last four games. Also playing in Navarro's favor today is the fact that in four at-bats against Danny Duffy, he's got two hits, including a home run.

First Base (1B)

Adam Lind, SEA at CIN - $2,800

With so many options available today, you'll have to find some hidden gems at cheap prices. Adam Lind fits that mold. At under $3,000, there's not much risk in drafting him. His average and other counting numbers are low, but he's heated up lately and his contact rate is on the rise. Also he has started to hit the long ball. He's part of a good lineup stack with the Mariners today and should be a great target, especially in tournament plays.

Second Base (2B)

Steve Pearce, TB at DET - $3,700

Another cheap option for an infield position is Tampa's Steve Pearce. He's been hot this month and will look to keep it up against the Tigers. He's got a good spot in the middle of Tampa's lineup and produced over 15 DraftKings twice in the past week and will make for a good sleeper pick today.

Shortstop (SS)

Francisco Lindor, CLE at BOS - $4,400

Lindor has been ripping the ball better than anyone at the position. He's got a five game hit streak heading into today and he's picked up at least two hits in seven of his last eight games. Lindor has a .333 (1-3) batting average against Joe Kelly and should be one of the top shortstops on the board today. Just don't be surprised if he's got a high ownership number.

Third Base (3B)

Anthony Rendon, WAS at MIA - $3,300

Rendon has been a disappointment to seasonal owners so far this year, but he's heated up recently, making him very good for DFS lineups. He enters today with a five-game hit streak, and is currently seeing the ball well. He's really struggled against today's starter, Jose Fernandez, but still makes a good play. Most fantasy players will likely shy away from Rendon's matchup, so take advantage.

DFS Outfielders to Consider on DraftKings

Carlos Gonzalez, COL at PIT - $2,600

His recent slump has kept his daily salary very low, making it very tempting to take a risk on him. Even with the recent struggles, Gonzalez is still a great hitter, and he showed that with a big game on May 15 when he racked up 23 points on DraftKings. He still has a very favorable spot in the Colorado lineup and has five hits, including a home run, against starter Jonathon Niese.

Michael Conforto, NYM vs. MIL - $3,500

As mentioned above, several Mets should be in play today, especially if you're doing a lineup stack. Conforto has hit righties well this season, blasting all six of his homers against them. Today's starter, Zach Davies, has allowed left-handed batters to hit .367 against him.

Mookie Betts, BOS vs. CLE - $5,100

The outfielder's price is over $5,000, but he's still worth selecting on most days. He's been producing at a great clip for fantasy owners and has twice gone over 20 points on DraftKings in the last week. He did own an eight-game hitting streak before being held hitless on Wednesday. He's been hitting the ball well the last two games and has back-to-back multi-hit games. He has just two at-bats against today's starter, Trevor Bauer, but has a three-run double off of the right-hander.
