DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks (10/01/16): MLB DFS Advice

It's the final Saturday of the regular season, meaning that time for daily fantasy baseball is running out. With a full slate today you'll have a full compliment of players to choose from. There's plenty of value to go around today, and that's reflected in the suggested targets.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for DraftKings on 10/01/16. The DFS lineup picks will range from high-priced to low-priced options and identify options who will out-perform their expectations, including sleepers and value plays on DraftKings. The following targets have been selected for all day contests on DraftKings.

Editor's Note: Purchase a full season NFL Premium Pass (including Draft Kit + DFS Premium), and also get MLB Premium + DFS for free through October. Premium DFS lineup picks, expert lineups, tools and more - seven days a week. You can see screenshots of our NFL Premium and MLB Premium and DFS tools. What are you waiting for?

DFS Lineup Stacks to Target on DraftKings

Minnesota Twins vs. James Shields (RHP)

Minnesota makes for an interesting stack option today thanks to the fact that James Shields is the opposing pitcher. Although he's been better as of late (1.50 ERA in the last seven days), he's still lost five of his last 10 starts and has an overall ERA of 5.82. The Twins have done well against Shields this year, recording six runs in 13 innings. Current Minnesota hitters have a combined .302 average against him. Be sure to include Brian Dozier, as he's got a .423 average and three home runs in 26 at-bats versus Shields.

New York Mets vs. Phil Klein (RHP)

The Mets are another team not usually thought of first for a lineup stack, but they should be today. Philadelphia is putting Phil Klein out on the mound for just his second start of the season. He faced New York in a relief effort last Sunday and allowed three earned runs on two hits in just a tenth of an inning. Lefties are hitting .333 against him this year, so target guys like Jay Bruce, Lucas Duda, and Curtis Granderson.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider on DraftKings

Clayton Kershaw, LAD at SF - $13,800

Kershaw didn't take long to get back to his dominant self after missing over two months with an injury. In four starts he's allowed just two earned runs and is working on a string of three scoreless starts. San Francisco needs a win to stay in the postseason hunt, and the Dodgers would love nothing more than to keep them out. Kershaw is 2-0 this season with an ERA of 1.86 against the Giants. Spend the money and assure yourself that you'll get a top pitching option today.

Clayton Richard, SD at ARI - $4,500

Richard makes for a strong starting pitcher option today if you're playing in a large tournament. There's potential for a bust here, but if you're into taking risks, Richard is your guy. He's got a favorable matchup with Arizona, as current Diamondback hitters have a combined average of just .230 against him. He's 1-1 against Arizona this year with an ERA of just 1.46. Richard has been a good addition to the San Diego pitching staff since coming over from Chicago at the trade deadline. He's a very sneaky play today against a team he's done well against this year. Plus, you'll enjoy the major cap room that he'll save you.

DFS Infielders to Consider on DraftKings

Catcher (C)

Cameron Rupp, PHI vs. NYM - $3,600

Rupp could get the day off today, so just be sure to check his status prior to finalizing your lineup. However, if he's in Philadelphia's lineup, then he needs to be in yours. Although his average is .232 this month, he has some pop and has shown good fantasy potential. He's got at least 12 fantasy points in three of his last six games and is on a three-game hit streak, including two hitso n Friday night. Also helping his potential as a solid pick today is a .294 average against Bartolo Colon.

First Base (1B)

Miguel Cabrera, DET at Atl - $5,500

Cabrera is on a tear right now and doing everything he can to get his club into the playoffs. He enters Saturday with an eight-game hitting streak and a three-game home run streak. He added two blasts Friday night and continued his four-game streak of double-digit fantasy points. Cabrera has recorded at least 30 fantasy points twice in the last three contests. This one will cost you a lot of cap space, but it's more than worth it.

Second Base (2B)

Devon Travis, TOR at BOS - $3,700

Travis was struggling recently before Friday night, but broke out of his four-game hitless streak in a big way. He produced three hits, including two doubles against the Red Sox. He's still averaging close to eight fantasy points per game and is available for a very affordable price. Take him today in hopes that Friday's big performance can get him headed back in the right direction. As a side note for today's matchup, he's 3-for-7 (.429) against Eduardo Rodriguez.

Shortstop (SS)

Jose Iglesias, DET at ATL - $2,900

The Tigers are in a must-win spot today, so it will be worth taking a chance on some of the Detroit hitters. One such player is Jose Iglesias. He's quietly been an effective daily league asset this season, averaging five fantasy points a game. With a price under $3,000, anything close to his average of fantasy points will be good. He has picked up at least two fantasy points in every game he's played since September 13.

Third Base (3B)

Yangervis Solarte, SD at ARI - $3,900

Solarte has been streaky this year, and he's currently on one of his hot streaks. Although his 14-game hit streak ended Friday, he's hitting .355 in the month of September. Today's matchup is very favorable, as he's 4-for-8 lifetime with a home run and three RBI against opposing starter Archie Bradley. Solarte will be hitting from the left side of the plate today against the righty, making him an even better start. He's got a .292 average and 12 of his 15 home runs against right-handed pitching.

DFS Outfielders to Consider on DraftKings

Mark Trumbo, BAL at NYY - $4,000

Trumbo homered Friday night and added to his lead. He's now up to 47 long balls for the season. Trumbo is a bit of a fickle player for daily fantasy lineups thanks to the fact that if he's not going deep, he can put up a goose egg in the points department. However, he's been great lately and is working on a three-game streak of at least 10 fantasy points. Trumbo could be a popular pick today due to his recent stretch and the fact that's he's got two home runs in just four at-bats against opposing starter Luis Severino.

Mike Trout, LAA vs. HOU- $5,400

With an average of 10.5 fantasy points a game, Trout is usually a no-brainer. The problem is that his salary is high. However, with all the value targets today, you'll have plenty of room to afford him. Trout has performed very well when facing Collin McHugh in the past. He's 6-for-19 with two home runs and four RBI in his lifetime against him.

Hunter Renfroe, SD at ARI - $2,600

With the season essentially over for the Padres, they will likely get some young talent into the lineup. He's seen limited playing time since his call-up from Triple A, but has .346 average with four home runs. He's got definite potential, having been named the Pacific Coast League MVP this year with a .306 average and 30 home runs. If' he's in the lineup today, take a chance on Renfroe and his average of 12 fantasy points a game.
