Recent Update

4/26:At a time when the losses and injuries are piling up for the New York Mets, at least one thing is going right. If they had ended up trading outfielder Jay Bruce this past winter, things would really be down in the dumps in Queens. Bruce has been fantastic over the season’s first few weeks, and even in an 8-2 loss on Wednesday night to the Braves, that was still the case. Bruce finished 2-for-2 with two walks, but unfortunately didn’t have anything else to show for it in the box score. He’s now up to a .271/.354/.557 slash line to go with six home runs, 13 runs scored, and 14 RBI. The batting average has fallen a bit, as expected, but Bruce should remain a viable fantasy option all year given his power contributions.--Andrew Bua - RotoBaller

  • @MarcCarig: you’re right tony, sending bruce against enciarte’s arm was the right call there. my bad. https://t.co/UXb6z983DF
  • @MarcCarig: Pretty much no reason that Jay Bruce should be waved in there. Bad judgment is contagious apparently. Enciarte had it all the way.
  • @jareddiamond: Down 2-0, with nobody out, Glenn Sherlock sends Jay Bruce home, and he's out by a mile. That's a horrible send, considering the situation.
  • @AnthonyDiComo: Jay Bruce has reached base safely in six consecutive plate appearances, but hasn't scored in any of them. Thrown out trying today. #Mets
  • @MarcCarig: The Mets have 99 problems, but Jay Bruce ain’t 1.
  • @AnthonyDiComo: Mets Game 21 of 162, vs. ATL:

    Bruce 1B
    Walker 2B
    Granderson RF
    d’Arnaud C
    Reyes 3B
    Harvey RHP
  • @AnthonyDiComo: Jay Bruce is reaching base, at least. He's walked twice and singled once, the only Mets hitter to reach more than one time.
  • @MarcCarig: Now a throwing error for Reyes after he touched third for the out. Would have been a tough scoop for Bruce.
  • @MarcCarig: Jay Bruce, btw, has made a couple decent plays in this inning.
  • @AnthonyDiComo: Mets Game 20 of 162, vs. ATL:

    Bruce 1B

  • @AnthonyDiComo: Yoenis Cespedes is back in the Mets' lineup as promised. Jay Bruce playing first.
  • @NYPost_Mets: The Mets aren't hitting - or panicking: https://t.co/mMzO5gfZDB
  • @AdamRubinMedia: RT @nypostsports: Don't tell Jay Bruce to panic because he believes the #Mets are going all the way https://t.co/gQa2KFy8Wu
