BALLER MOVE: Start in 12+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB2/Flex option with upside
ANALYSIS: Edwards-Helaire out-snapped Isiah Pacheco early in the 2022-23 campaign. But Pacheco slowly got more involved as the season progressed, eventually taking over as the No. 1 runner after CEH landed on the injured reserve list. The arrangement hasn't changed this season, as Pacheco is still atop the depth chart. But Pacheco wasn't available in the Week 14 loss to Buffalo, opening the door for Edwards-Helaire to reclaim the job.
Unfortunately for fantasy managers, the former LSU Tiger didn't play the best, amassing only 11 carries for 39 yards for a miserable 3.5 YPC. Even worse, Jerick McKinnon was also involved, with the veteran turning one of his four carries into a score.
On a positive note, Edwards-Helaire was still more productive than McKinnon on the ground and as a pass-catcher, with the former gaining more yards and targets on the day. With Pacheco out again for Week 15, fantasy managers are left scratching their heads and pondering whether Edwards-Helaire should be in the starting lineup.
Luckily, Kansas City is predicted to handle New England on Sunday, with Vegas giving the Chiefs a double-digit edge. With this in mind, Edwards-Helaire might be more involved by default, considering his services could be required to milk the clock if the Chiefs manage to build a big league, which is certainly more than possible versus the three-win Patriots.
Sure, the 24-year-old isn't a lock to have a promising showing. However, his outlook is much brighter in Week 15 than it was heading into the matchup with Buffalo, so fantasy managers should at least consider him for starting lineups, especially for those needing to replace Pacheco. At the same time, his involvement as a receiver in Week 14 demonstrates that McKinnon may not get all the targets, which is good news for PPR participants.
