German Marquez Earns The Win On Friday
German Marquez earned the win on Friday when he allowed four runs on eight hits with three walks and eight strikeouts over six innings in a 9-6 win over the Reds. Marquez did a decent job keeping the Cincinnati offense off the bases on Friday. He allowed a pair of runs in the third inning with an RBI single and groundout but settled in until the top of the seventh when Jonathan India got him for a two-run homer. He issued three free passes but also matched a season-high with eight strikeouts. It wasn't a great start but it was enough to earn the victory. The 26-year-old now owns a 5.56 ERA, 1.68 WHIP, and 48:27 K/BB ratio over 45 1/3 innings. He'll carry those mediocre numbers into his next start, a home date vs. the Diamondbacks. Start him at your own risk.
