FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks (8/17/16): MLB DFS Advice

Welcome to another action-packed Wednesday of FanDuel contests. I can feel your excitement through the screen, no need to hide it. It's a full slate with five early games starting at 1:05 ET, so should you choose an early format there's plenty of options available. Let's get going.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for FanDuel on 8/17/16. As for Vegas insights, the heavy moneyline favorites tonight are the Cubs (-255), Rangers (-210), and Rays (-200). The highest scoring totals are Nationals-Rockies (10.5) and Mets-Diamondbacks (9.5).

Editor's Note: Purchase a full season NFL Premium Pass (including Draft Kit + DFS Premium), and also get MLB Premium + DFS for free through October. Premium DFS lineup picks, expert lineups, tools and more - seven days a week. You can see screenshots of our NFL Premium and MLB Premium and DFS tools. What are you waiting for?

DFS Lineup Stacks to Target for FanDuel

Cubs versus Jimmy Nelson

Nelson has had a rough go at the second half of 2016, allowing 28 runs (19 earned) in his last 23 innings. He did manage to allow only three runs over five innings to the Reds, but the Cubs are a whole different animal. The obvious big names are in play, but consider Jorge Soler, Javier Baez, and Miguel Montero for low-owned opportunities.

Reds versus Andrew Cashner

Cashner has not been of a fan of the move to Miami, posting a 6.61 ERA in 16.1 innings. Personally, I think it's 100% the fact he lost the beard. Anyways, the Reds are hitting pretty well as a team of late, including Brandon Phillips (knee - check before playing), Joey Votto, and Billy Hamilton. This is a great, low-ownership stack to keep in mind if you pay up at pitching.

Also Consider: Blue Jays versus CC Sabathia

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel

Stephen Strasburg (SP, WAS) - $9,200

Playing a pitcher at Coors is always going to be a gamble, but this is a worthy venture. Strasburg has been dominant this season, posting a 11.79 K/9 over his last five starts. The diminished price tag combined with low ownership makes this a solid play on a full slate.

Yordano Ventura (SP, KC) - $8,200

Ventura has displayed the potential the Royals have always seen, posting a 2.89 ERA in August. He hasn't allowed more than three runs in an outing since July 3rd and while the Tigers are a formidable offense, the low ownership caused by the matchup makes this a worthy venture.

DFS Infielders to Consider for FanDuel

Catcher (C)

Gary Sanchez (C, NYY) - $2,700

At this point I'm riding Gary Sanchez till the wheels come off. He added another two home runs last night and continues to come at a discount on FanDuel. JA Happ is a tough opponent, but the low price point makes this too good to pass up.

First Base (1B)

Brandon Moss (1B, STL) - $3,600

Moss continues to mash with three home runs in his past five games and has a 1.036 OPS versus RHP. He's as close to a must-play as there is on the docket.

Second Base (2B)

Dee Gordon (2B, MIA) - $3,500

Is my FanDuel broken? How is Dee only $3,500? He has double digit points in nine of his last ten games. The other game? He scored nine. Just play him and ask questions later.

Shortstop (SS)

Chris Owings (SS, ARI) - $2,800

Owings has heated back up since returning from the DL, posting a .346/.370/.519 line in August. He has a .855 OPS versus LHP and should continue to see everyday playing time going forward.

Third Base (3B)

Adrian Beltre (3B, TEX) - $3,500

Beltre is on fire in August, hitting .364/.417/.600 with 12 RBI. He has a 1.011 OPS versus LHP and is a fair price on FanDuel.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for FanDuel

Josh Reddick (OF, LAD) - $3,400

The bad news is Reddick is hitting .178 as a Dodger. The good news is he's shown signs of life this week and is hitting .341 versus RHP. He gets the rookie Jake Thompson in the sandbox that is Citizens Bank, making this a great opportunity to break out. Ownership will be low here.

Mark Trumbo (OF, BAL) - $3,200

Trumbo has had a rough second half, but he's displaying the power we want in FanDuel. David Price is prone to the deep ball and Trumbo is hitting .360 with 2 HR in 25 career AB versus the lefty. Again, ownership will be low

Keon Broxton (OF, MIL) - $3,100

We all know Jon Lester's issues with throwing to first. Most of you know about Broxton's speed by now too. Broxton has 5 SB in the past week and should be in the lineup tonight. If he gets on first and doesn't attempt a steal, I'll eat my hat.

Also Consider: Nelson Cruz (OF, SEA) - $3,700 and Andrew Benintendi (OF, BOS) - $2,800
