Recent Update

7/10:Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Jimmy Nelson went five innings Sunday versus the Yankees, allowing three runs. Nelson came into 2017 with a career ERA of 4.38 and rumors that his leash might not be particularly long but he has turned it around so far in 2017. He is now 8-4 with an ERA of 3.30 for the first-place Brewers. He still does not have dominating stuff and is a risk if you expect a similar second half but so far he has made an argument for being owned in leagues of 12 teams or more.--Jamie Mellor - RotoBaller

  • @Haudricourt: Jimmy Nelson bounces back from rough third inning with 1-2-3 fourth innning. PIrates 4, #Brewers 3.
  • @AdamMcCalvy: Seven hits, all singles, off Nelson, who has fallen into a 4-0 deficit in the third inning. Last start: 11 hits, nine singles.
  • @Haudricourt: Frazier flies out to left and Nelson finally out of third inning but Pirates score three runs to make it 4-0.
  • @Haudricourt: Nelson does not escape, however, as Josh Bell punches RBI single to RF and quick 1-0 lead for Pirates.
  • @Haudricourt: Nelson catches McCutchen looking at FB on outside corner and now has chance to escape with no runs in first.
  • @Haudricourt: Nelson makes throwing error on pickoff at 1B and Marte moves to 3B, where he is with no outs. Throw actually hit 1B ump Ben May.
  • @Haudricourt: We are underway at Miller Park as Starling Marte leads off with a single to LF off #Brewers Jimmy Nelson.
  • @AdamMcCalvy: Brewers aren't yet naming probable pitchers for their three-game series in Colorado. It's Davies tonight, Nelson tomorrow vs. Pirates.

  • @AdamMcCalvy: Now a shift-beating, ground ball single makes it 10-2. Jimmy Nelson is exiting. Not sure I've ever seen a more star-crossed start.
  • @Haudricourt: Suarez beats the shift with single through right side for another RBI and it's 10-2. That will be all for Nelson, who can only shake head.
  • @AdamMcCalvy: Nelson walks Billy Hamilton in back to back innings. Suboptimal.
  • @Haudricourt: Villar can't handle Barnhart's infield single and Winker comes around to score from second base as Nelson retrieves and throws home.
  • @Haudricourt: Nelson has mess on hands in third. Hamilton walks, steals 2B. Cozart has infield hit and E-4 allows both to advance. Votto intent. BB.
  • @Haudricourt: Nelson walks and Villar singles but Thames strikes out and #Brewers settle for 2-1 lead on Pina's HR.
  • @Haudricourt: #Brewers 3B Travis Shaw robs Barnhart with a leaping catch of his liner and Nelson works around a one-out single by Suarez in the second.
  • @Haudricourt: Joey Votto doesn't strike out much but Jimmy Nelson got him on a back-door breaking ball. Reds lead 1-0 going to bottom of 1st.
  • @Haudricourt: We are underway at Miller Park as Jimmy Nelson strikes out Billy Hamilton.
