DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks (6/22/16): MLB DFS Advice

Barry Leonard Jr. highlights the top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for 6/22/16. These are the top value and sleeper plays for your DraftKings MLB DFS lineups.

The middle of the week is made a little better with some daytime baseball. DraftKings has contests today that feature only just the afternoon games, just some of the afternoon games, all of the games throughout the day, or just the evening games.

While the usual options are available on offense, finding the right pitcher on a day in which not many top options are available can be tough.

Editor's Note: RotoBaller has the best Premium MLB Subscription for only $1.99 per week. We have all the tools to help win your seasonal and daily leagues: Hitter & Pitcher Streamers, Matchup Ratings for every player, Sleeper Surgers for AVG, HR, Ks, PLUS Daily DFS Cheat Sheets, Lineup Picks, Expert Lineups, Stacks and Avoids.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball MLB lineup picks for DraftKings on 6/22/16. The DFS lineup picks will range from high-priced to low-priced options and identify options who will out-perform their expectations, including sleepers and value plays on DraftKings.

DFS Lineup Stacks to Target on DraftKings

Baltimore Orioles vs. Erik Johnson (RHP)

Johnson has really struggled since coming over in a trade from the White Sox. He's given up five earned runs in each of his last two starts and has an overall ERA of 9.64 in road starts. That makes the Orioles a perfect option for a lineup stack. Lefties Chris Davis, Hyun Soo Kim, and Pedro Alvarez are all good targets. Matt Wieters, who hits from both sides of the plate, has been much better against right-handers this season.

Minnesota Twins vs. Adam Morgan (LHP)

This one seems bizarre since Minnesota is almost never suggested for a lineup stack. However, the home matchup today against Philly's Adam Morgan is one that needs to be taken advantage of. Morgan has given up a total of seven earned runs in his last two starts and has particularly struggled with an ERA of 5.40. Right-handed batters have hit 10 homers off of Morgan with an average of .302. The Twins have some talented righties in Byron Buxton and Eduardo Nunez. Switch hitters Robbie Grossman and Eduardo Escobar are also in play for a lineup stack tonight.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider on DraftKings

Michael Fulmer, DET vs. SEA - $9,700

Fulmer has absolutely been on fire recently. Despite taking a loss in his last start, he allowed just one earned run and has allowed a total of just one run in his last five starts. He's 2-0 at home with an ERA of just 0.69 and opponents have hit .140 against him at home. Seattle could prove tough, but Fulmer has been pitching very well lately.

Cole Hamels, TEX vs. CIN - $10,400

Hamels has been very good this season with a record of 7-1 and an ERA of 2.88. He's struggled a bit at home, recording an ERA of 4.35, compared to an ERA of 1.64 on the road. Today he'll face off against a Reds team that's near the bottom of the league in team batting average. Playing in Hamels' favor today is the fact that current Cincinnati hitters have a lifetime average of .209 against him.

DFS Infielders to Consider on DraftKings

Catcher (C)

Evan Gattis, HOU vs LAA - $3,300

Picking the right catcher for the right price in daily fantasy baseball can always be a bit tricky. Today, there are some tough matchups to choose from, but Evan Gattis stands out as one to use, particularly in tournaments. Despite his limited success (.200) against Matt Shoemaker, Gattis has been playing well, putting up at least 18 fantasy points in two of his last four games. You'll take anything close to that from a catcher priced under $3,500.

First Base (1B)

Freddie Freeman, ATL at MIA - $4,200

Freeman plays for a bad team, but that doesn't mean he isn't capable of putting up some big numbers for his fantasy owners. He's had a very good stretch lately, putting up at least 18 fantasy points in five of his last seven games. Although he hits from the left side and is facing a left-hander today, Freeman has hit lefties very well this season. He's 1-for-4 in his lifetime against Adam Conley and makes for a very solid option today.

Second Base (2B)

Derek Dietrich, MIA vs. ATL - $3,600

Dietrich has been a sneaky play this season, hitting close to .300 and averaging six fantasy points a game. He's easily overlooked, which is something that will help you today, especially in tournament play. He's 1-for-2 lifetime against Atlanta's Matt Wisler with a walk and a home run. He's had limited at-bats against the righty, but he has obviously been successful. Dietrich is batting over .300 against righties this season, making the matchup even sweeter for his owners.

Shortstop (SS)

Jose Iglesias, DET vs. SEA - $2,900

Iglesias has really come on for the Tigers recently, hitting over .300 so far in the month of June. He recently had a 14-game hit streak ended and has raised his average of fantasy points to over five per game. Don't let the sub-.250 season average scare you away. Iglesias is hot right now and has a lifetime .333 average against Hisashi Iwakuma.

Third Base (3B)

Eduardo Nunez ,  MIN vs. PHI - $4,300

Philadelphia's Adam Morgan has struggled both at home and against right-handed hitters this season. That makes Eduardo Nunez a great option today. He's already having a fantastic season and is averaging nearly nine fantasy points a game. Nunez has crushed left-handed pitching this season to the tune of a .340 average with five home runs. He's not cheap, but it's hard to argue with his production. The other nice thing about him is the fact that you can play him at either shortstop or third base.

DFS Outfielders to Consider on DraftKings

Michael Taylor, WAS at LAD - $4,000

Taylor isn't a guarantee to start, but there's a good chance he will with lefty Julio Urias on the mound. Taylor has been crushing it over the past seven days, racking up an average of .444 with two homers, two doubles, six runs and three RBI. He's hitting over .300 with four home runs for the season against lefties, setting up a very favorable matchup to be used in your DFS lineup.

Tyler Naquin, CLE vs TB - $3,400

If you're looking for a cheaper option that allows you to spend more at another position, then check out Cleveland's Tyler Naquin. His spot at the bottom of the order isn't real conducive to fantasy production, but he's actually been a nice surprise. He's averaging just under six fantasy points a game, and recently racked up 35 DraftKings points on June 18. He should be in the lineup today considering that a righty is on the mound. Naquin has done most of his damage against righties this season, racking up five home runs and an average over .300.

Jackie Bradley Jr. BOS vs. CHW - $4,200

Bradley Jr. has gone hitless in the last two games, but the good news is that he has never gone three games in a row this season with recording at least one hit. He enters today with a .301 average and 12 home runs and has been a very solid producer in a potent Red Sox lineup. He's 3-for-9 lifetime against Jose Quintana and has an overall average of .286 against lefties this season.
