Is Garrett Wilson out for the season? When is Garrett Wilson coming back? The latest Garrett Wilson injury update and fantasy football outlook heading into Week 15 of 2025.
2025 has been a brutal season for injuries across fantasy football. One highly drafted player who has missed significant time this summer is New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
When healthy, Wilson gave fantasy managers a top-10 wide receiver season thanks to his high-volume role in the Jets’ offense. Unfortunately, a knee injury has limited him to just seven games this season, only one of which has come since Week 6.
Is Garrett Wilson out for the rest of the 2025 season? Will fantasy managers be able to use him in the playoffs? Read below to find out.

Is Garrett Wilson Out for the 2025 Season?
2025 has been a season to forget for Garrett Wilson. The veteran wide receiver initially suffered a knee injury against the Denver Broncos in Week 6, but was able to avoid the injured reserve thanks to a well-timed bye week in Week 9. Still, Wilson missed two games while healing from the injury.
Wilson was able to return to the starting lineup in Week 10 for a matchup against the Cleveland Browns. Unfortunately, he lasted just 19 snaps before landing awkwardly on a deep pass attempt and aggravating his knee injury. Wilson finished the day catching none of his three targets.
The Jets put Wilson on the injured reserve after that injury, a move that guaranteed that Wilson would be forced to miss at least four games starting in Week 11. Head coach Aaron Glenn has stated that the team expects Wilson to return to the field in 2025 if he is healthy. Glenn did not provide any concrete updates to reporters during his press conference on Monday regarding Wilson’s status.
Garrett Wilson (knee) is eligible to come off IR this week. No update from Glenn. He says it will be a medical decision between Wilson and the doctors. IMO: At 3-10, why take a chance? #Jets

If Wilson is medically cleared, don’t be surprised if he practices throughout the week. The Jets also have the option to open his 21-day return window from injured reserve to give him opportunities to practice and test out the knee before deciding if he’s able to return. There are just four games left in 2025, so there is a chance that the team decides to just shut down their best offensive player in a lost season.
Garrett Wilson 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook
For the first five weeks of the season, Garrett Wilson was delivering on the belief that he could be a high-end wide receiver in fantasy as the lone target earner for the Jets coming into 2025. From Weeks 1 to 5, Wilson averaged 9.6 targets, 6.6 receptions, and 76.4 receiving yards per game with four touchdowns. He was the WR6 in PPR points per game during that time (19.0).

The Jets’ offense has undergone several changes in the time that Wilson has been off the field. The team has traded for John Metchie III and Adonai Mitchell. Both players have shown flashes with Wilson sidelined, even if neither is as talented as he is.
New York is also working through issues at the quarterback position. Justin Fields was benched due to his struggles as a passer, giving way to Tyrod Taylor. Taylor suffered a groin injury in Week 14, but the team was unable to turn to Fields because he was out with a knee issue. That led to UDFA quarterback Brady Cook making his NFL debut.
The general offensive environment around the Jets is a mess, so it is hard to rank Wilson higher than a high-end WR2 with top-five weekly upside if he’s healthy and able to return.
