Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups - Brian Robinson Jr., Devin Singletary, Devin Neal Fantasy Football Outlooks

Devin Singletary - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Week 9 fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Brian Robinson Jr., Devin Singletary, Devin Neal in 2025. Read their waiver wire outlooks for fantasy football.

We've reached the midway point of the NFL season as we enter Week 9. With bye weeks in full swing and injuries piling up, rostering backup running backs that you can plug and play as starters can be a key difference in surviving this tough stretch.

In this article, we'll look at three running backs who are one injury away from having a prominent role: Brian Robinson Jr., Devin Singletary, and Devin Neal.

So, should you pick up Robinson, Singletary, or Neal in your fantasy football leagues for Week 9? Let's dive in.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Brian Robinson Jr. Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups

Rostered: 23.2% of ESPN Leagues

Baller Move: Add in 12-Team Leagues

Robinson is one of the top handcuffs to own in fantasy as he would step into a sizable workload if superstar Christian McCaffrey were to miss any time. There was a thought that he could hold some standalone value after the 49ers went out and acquired him for a sixth-round pick before the season, but that hasn't materialized.

There were plenty of questions surrounding McCaffrey's health before the season, and perhaps they'd use Robinson more to keep McCaffrey fresh, but the 2023 Offensive Player of the Year has had the biggest load of any running back this season, playing the most snaps (525) and leading the league in total touches (196) by a wide margin, with Jonathan Taylor being the next closest at 168.

That's left Robinson with a reduced role, recording 36 carries for 144 yards to go with five catches (six targets) for 11 yards. He had his lowest snap total of the season in San Francisco's Week 8 loss to the Texans, playing just two total snaps on offense. That will happen when the 49ers fall behind early, which hasn't happened often yet this season. But in Week 7 against Atlanta, he tied his season high for carries with nine rushes for 36 yards.

The 26-year-old will continue to work behind McCaffrey, but the contingency upside case is clear, which makes him worth rostering in 12-team leagues.

Devin Singletary Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups

Rostered: 3.1% of ESPN Leagues

Baller Move: Add in 12-Team Leagues

Singletary becomes relevant again for fantasy purposes with the unfortunate injury to rookie Cam Skattebo. Second-year back Tyrone Tracy Jr. is expected to step in as the workhorse for the Giants, with Singletary likely mixing in on for pass protection on third downs.

Singletary signed a three-year deal with the Giants last offseason and was productive in the first four games of the season before getting injured and ultimately losing his spot to Tracy. He played at least 68% of snaps in all four games, recording 56 carries for 221 yards and two touchdowns while adding 10 receptions (11 targets) for 72 yards as a receiver, ranking as RB23 in total PPR points in that time.

The 28-year-old should now be on fantasy radars as the direct replacement ot Tracy with the potential for a split backfield, although that seems less likely. The upside wouldn't be super high since he's essentially a replacement-level running back, but he's still a solid contingency bet that is worth adding in 12-team leagues.

Devin Neal Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups

Rostered: 2.5% of ESPN Leagues

Baller Move: Add In 12-Team leagues

Neal perhaps has the easiest path to playing time among the running backs listed here. With Kendre Miller (knee) out for the season, Neal is now the clear No. 2 back behind Alvin Kamara, who has been battling a few injuries this season and is on the wrong side of 30.

Neal played a season-high 45.1% of snaps in Week 8 in the first week without Miller in the lineup. He didn't record a carry and caught all three of his targets for 11 yards. The sixth-rounder out of Kansas was a prolific all-around back in college, racking up 5,054 total yards from scrimmage, averaging six yards per touch, and scoring 53 touchdowns in four seasons in Lawrence. He's shown that he can handle a full workload if given the opportunity.

Kamara didn't play much in the second half of their 23-3 loss in Week 8 to Tampa Bay. The scoreboard likely dictated a lot of that, but his status in practice will be worth monitoring this week. Neal should be in line for more snaps and touches regardless in the coming weeks as the No. 2 behind Kamara now, and is well worth adding and stashing in 12-team leagues.
