MLB DFS Picks Today: Daily Fantasy Baseball Strategy and Tips For FanDuel, DraftKings (8/5/25)

Jamie's top DraftKings and FanDuel MLB DFS picks for today, Tuesday, 8/5/25. His favorite daily fantasy baseball lineup sleepers and value picks for DFS on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Well, if you invested in the Blue Jays' exorbitant IRT, you were handsomely rewarded as they hung 15 runs on the poor Rockies. Luckily, I pocketed some green to help ease the sting of my collapsing Yankees. They take on the Rangers again tonight, with a lot of pressure on Will Warren to upend ex-Yankee Nathan Eovaldi.

10 games are on the docket for this evening, and Aaron Judge and George Springer are tentatively expected to return to their respective lineups. Make sure to come hang with us in the RotoBaller Discord, as we'll be doing our best to help you pad that bank account before football season comes (not long, now!)

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/5/2025, with the slate starting at 7:10 PM EST. The lineup picks will showcase elite players, mid-priced options, and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is always essential.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Garrett Crochet, SP - BOS ($10,900 DK/$11,000 FD)

Garrett Crochet has been everything the surging Red Sox could have asked for this year. He's anchored the rotation up top and has posted an impressive 2.23 ERA, 2.54 FIP, 31% K rate, and 48.8% GB rate. He's had nine or more strikeouts in four of his last six outings, and his upside is in a tier of its own tonight.

The Royals are not the best K matchup for lefties, but they're 23rd in wOBA and 24th in ISO over the past 10 games. The slumping Royals have also scored only six runs over their past three, so this is a perfect time to pay up for Crochet. With no bullpen additions for Boston, expect Crochet's pitch count leash to be long.

Will Warren, SP - NYY ($8,000 DK/$8,300 FD)

After Crochet, things get a bit dicey. Nathan Eovaldi's sub-10k price tag jumped out a bit against the struggling Yankees, but the return of Aaron Judge adds enough uncertainty there that paying that much for an SP2 doesn't seem like the best investment. I'm looking at the other side of the dugout at Warren, who has quietly put together a solid season despite what some of the numbers say.

Warren's FIP is a full run below his ERA, which continues to suggest positive regression. His BABIP also indicates bad luck has occurred, and his 26.2% K rate plays well for an $8k price tag. Texas is a middling matchup for strikeouts against righties, but the Yankees have taxed their bullpen so much (even the new guys) that Warren should have a little more longevity. I'm taking the K upside even against a Rangers' IRT of 4.5.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP):

  • Freddy Peralta, SP - MIL ($10,000 DK/$9,600 FD)
  • Nathan Eovaldi, SP - TEX ($9,700 DK/$10,200 FD)
  • Clay Holmes, SP - NYM ($7,300 DK/$7,500 FD)

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Vladimir Guerrero Jr., 1B - TOR ($6,600 DK/$4,000 FD)

If you played into Toronto's 7.1 IRT yesterday, they didn't disappoint at all. The Jays put up a 15-spot against the Rockies' pitching and decimated the team's bullpen in game one of the series. Tonight, they take on Anthony Molina, who owns a 6.85 ERA in 68 career innings.

Toronto's IRT is "only" 6.4 tonight, but they're easily the top offense to target tonight. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has only a .198 ISO against same-handed pitching this season, but he's shown significant reverse-split power for his career, and he's the cornerstone of a Blue Jays attack. If you're spending on one hitter, he's worth it to be the one.

Ketel Marte, 2B - ARI ($6,000 DK/$3,800 FD)

Despite the Diamondbacks dealing away significant offensive firepower, Ketel Marte continues to mash at the top of the Arizona order. He has four multi-hit games in his last six, and will take on Yu Darvish and his rapidly diminishing K rate tonight (17.5%, which is by far a career low).

The Padres strengthened their bullpen so much that it's not prudent to fully attack them, but using Marte in GPPs has amazing upside. He should get multiple cracks at subpar pitching before it gets to the good arms, and Marte has a .389 wOBA and .251 ISO against RHP this year. He also maintains the platoon edge when the ball gets into the bullpen.

Corey Seager, SS - TEX ($4,700 DK/$3,400 FD)

I know I wrote up Warren earlier, but he's still got a definite bugaboo, and it's power allowed to lefties. Warren has significantly different splits, allowing a .370 wOBA and 1.57 HR/9 to LHB with a 20.3% K rate against them. This is starkly contrasted by his .255 wOBA, 0.34 HR/9, 33.5% K rate to RHB.

Seager continues to be the best overall hitter for the Rangers, and he'll be important as Texas prepares for its final playoff push. Seager has been impressive in the platoon split as well, with a .384 wOBA and .238 ISO against RHP. He's still not quite adequately priced on either site.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Shohei Ohtani, 1B/OF (DK), OF (FD) - LAD ($6,900 DK/$4,800 FD)

I'll be interested to see Shohei Ohtani's final ownership projections tonight. It would seem he'd come in behind the Toronto sluggers, given the fact that he's more expensive than all of them, but it's just not the case so far. Just goes to show you how good Ohtani is, and also that he's worth paying for (even over the Jays in Coors).

Ohtani has a .444 wOBA and .384 ISO against RHP this season, and also an incredible 48.5% HHR against them. Miles Mikolas has a 16.3% K rate and a career-low 37.5% GB rate this season to go along with a 4.58 FIP. St. Louis also gutted their bullpen at the trade deadline.

Mickey Moniak, OF - COL ($4,400 DK/$3,100 FD)

It may have taken playing in Coors Field for Mickey Moniak to realize his true potential, but let's not forget the Rockies' outfielder is a former #1 overall pick. Since returning to Colorado for this homestand, he's got two multi-hit games and three extra-base hits in three games. He also has a .217 ISO against RHP this season.

Jose Berrios got off to a strong start this year, but he's stabilized back into mediocrity with a 4.42 FIP, 38% GB rate, and 12% HR/FB rate. His K rate is up, but pitching in Coors Field is not going to help matters, and the Rockies have an IRT of 4.9 runs against him.

Jarren Duran, OF - BOS ($4,400 DK/$3,400 FD)

The Red Sox have got to be thanking their lucky stars that they didn't trade Jarren Duran at the deadline, as the lefty outfielder has been crushing baseballs lately. Over the past six games, he has four doubles, three homers, eight RBIs, and two steals, and his barrel rate has been soaring.

It's no coincidence that Boston's winning streak has coincided with Duran's hot hitting, and he's batting all over the lineup. Tonight, he'll take on Royals' deadline acquisition Ryan Bergert, who has had a decent year. Duran has solid platoon splits, however, with a .384 wOBA and .249 ISO against RHP.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

1. Toronto Blue Jays vs Anthony Molina

Toronto is going to be popular tonight after pouring on 15 runs against Colorado pitching last night. I wouldn't be on the wrong end of this, though. Nothing about Molina's profile suggests that he'll turn around and shut the Blue Jays down, and Toronto may get even stronger tonight if George Springer can return from the seven-day concussion IL.

Favorite Combo: Schneider, Guerrero Jr., Bichette, Barger (keep an eye on the statuses of players)

2. Los Angeles Dodgers vs Miles Mikolas

The Dodgers have the next-highest IRT on the slate after Toronto, with 5.2 runs. They're always in play for being the top stack of the night, and they're facing a subpar pitcher in Mikolas. L.A. is full of righty-mashing lefties, and Mookie Betts and Teoscar Hernandez (when right) are both strong reverse-split hitters.

Favorite Combo: Ohtani, Betts, Freeman, Muncy

3. Colorado Rockies vs Jose Berrios

I have no qualms about stacking the other side of this Coors game, even though the Rockies only managed one run against the Jays last night. Berrios doesn't have any peripherals that scare Rockies truthers, and Colorado's 4.9 IRT is the third-highest on the slate, behind only the Blue Jays and Dodgers.

Favorite Combo: Freeman, Moniak, Goodman, Tovar
