Coby Mayo - Fantasy Baseball Prospects Waiver Wire Stashes (Week 9)

Coby Mayo - Fantasy Baseball Prospects, Draft Sleepers, MLB Rookies

Coby Mayo is a fantasy baseball waiver wire stash for Week 9 (2025). Target Coby Mayo as a top prospect free-agent waiver wire pickup for fantasy baseball.

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ team leagues

CALL-UP ETA: June

ANALYSIS: Baltimore Orioles third base prospect Coby Mayo has been one of the best power hitters at Triple-A over the past two seasons but has yet to take the next step at the major league level. Last summer, Mayo made his MLB debut but only appeared in 17 games and held a low .098/.196/.098 line with just four hits (all singles).

Earlier this season, the Orioles opted to give Mayo another taste of the majors, but once again limited his role. During this stint, the No. 17-ranked prospect in the sport appeared in just four contests and tallied one hit (a single) and held a 6:1 K:BB.

While his playing time and production in the majors have been disappointing, Mayo has flashed elite upside at Triple-A. Last season during his first stint at Triple-A Norfolk, the former fourth-round pick posted an impressive .287/.364/.562 slash line with 23 doubles and 22 long balls across 89 games.

This season, he has taken a slight step back but has remained productive in the power department, holding a .224/.319/.460 line with eight home runs across 43 games.

Given Baltimore's disappointing start to the season and Jordan Westburg's (hamstring) lingering absence, Mayo would provide a much-needed spark to the lineup if given the playing time. Ramon Urias has seen most of the starts at third base with Westburg on the shelf and has posted a .718 OPS. If Mayo continues to hit for power at Triple-A, expect the Orioles to finally give him an extended look.
