Matt Shaw - Fantasy Baseball Prospects Waiver Wire Pickups (Week 8)

Matt Shaw - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Waiver Wire Pickups, MLB News

Matt Shaw is a fantasy baseball waiver wire pickup for Week 8 (2025). Target Matt Shaw as a top prospect free-agent add for fantasy baseball.

BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues

ROSTERED IN: 40% of Leagues

ANALYSIS:  Chicago Cubs infield prospect Matt Shaw was able to break camp with the major league roster but was optioned back to Triple-A following his slow start. During his first 18 games with the Cubs, the former 13th overall pick posted a .172/.294/.241 line with just one double and one home run.

Once he returned to Triple-A, the Maryland product was able to break out of his slump and quickly returned to the majors. Across his 24-game stint at Iowa, Shaw posted a stellar .286/.409/.560 line with five doubles, six home runs, and five stolen bases.

Since returning to the majors, Shaw has been given the starting nod in each of the past three games. During this stretch, Shaw has posted three-straight multi-hit contests with three doubles and two stolen bases. Given his five-category upside, fantasy managers should add Shaw in all formats.

If he continues to turn the corner at the MLB level, he will be a must-start third baseman in all formats.
