Bobby Witt Jr. Knocks in Run, Extends HR Drought To 12 Games
Bobby Witt Jr. finished 1-for-4 with an RBI single and a pair of strikeouts in the team's 3-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday. It's the first RBI since May 12 for Witt, who has slumped of late. Witt owned a season-high .920 OPS on May 10, but he has gone a meager 7-for-35 with eight strikeouts and two walks in nine games since then. While the two-time 30-home run hitter is also amid a 12-game HR drought, there's no reason to fret. Witt's still slashing a superb .301/.367/.503 through 218 plate appearances. Although Giants catcher Patrick Bailey threw him out on an attempted steal Tuesday, he still ranks near the top of the majors with 16 SBs. He will look to bust out of his mini-slump in Wednesday's game against Giants ace Logan Webb.
