Fantasy Baseball Players To Monitor Closely

Jazz Chisholm Jr., 2B/3B/OF - New York Yankees

Rostered: 98% Yahoo!
Estimated Return: TBD

New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. landed on the injured list with a high-grade oblique strain that should keep him out for an extended period. Despite going down with a serious injury, now could be the time to acquire him.

Despite getting off to a relatively slow start this season, Chisholm already had seven home runs and six stolen bases in his first 30 games. He was looking on pace to build on his 24-home run, 40-stolen base performance from last year.

Chisholm will be out for a long time while recovering from this oblique injury, but he can rack up home runs, stolen bases, RBI, and runs when healthy. Try to trade for him at a discount and stash him for the foreseeable future.

Colton Cowser, OF - Baltimore Orioles

Rostered: 62% Yahoo!
Estimated Return: Early June

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Colton Cowser has been out for most of the season, nursing his thumb injury, and has yet to return to baseball activities. Now is the time to strike before that happens.

The former first-round pick flashed upside in 2024 when he mashed 24 home runs and stole nine bases. Cowser is just 25 years old and has plenty of time to build on his first full season in the big leagues.

There has been little to no news surrounding Cowser's progress, but initial timelines point toward early June as a possibility for his return. There's a chance he's available in your league, so scoop him up if you can.

Justin Martinez, RP - Arizona Diamondbacks

Rostered: 55% Yahoo!
Estimated Return: TBD

Arizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Justin Martinez had seemingly seized the closer role before succumbing to his shoulder injury. The timeline is cloudy, but Martinez's roster percentage suggests he's available in nearly half of the leagues.

Martinez is not yet a qualified pitcher in 2025, but his 2024 stats show his dominance. His 100th percentile fastball velocity of 100.3 mph, 99th percentile barrel rate of 2.8 percent, and 97th percentile ground-ball rate of 60.3 percent all show that hitters have difficulty finding success against him.

The 23-year-old led the Diamondbacks with three saves before hitting the injured list, so he may return to that role when healthy. The Diamondbacks are a good team in a competitive division, so Martinez should have plenty of save opportunities.

Dylan Moore, 1B/2B/3B/SS/OF - Seattle Mariners

Rostered: 54% Yahoo!
Estimated Return: May 7

Seattle Mariners super utility man Dylan Moore is on the injured list with a hip injury, but is slated to return this week. Moore was off to a solid start this season before his injury, and his expected stats mostly back up the production.

Moore is slashing .286/.346/.557 with six home runs and five stolen bases this season. His xBA and xSLG of .276 and .517 align with what the Mariners slugger has accomplished so far.

The 32-year-old is flashing the bat right now, and his defensive prowess should keep him on the field nightly when healthy. Stash Moore if you're dealing with injuries at nearly any position.

Walker Buehler, SP - Boston Red Sox

Rostered: 54% Yahoo!
Estimated Return: Mid-May

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Walker Buehler landed on the 15-day injured list with a mild shoulder injury. Buehler is expected to miss the minimum time before rejoining the rotation.

The 30-year-old had a few ugly starts to begin the season, but has since cleaned up his act. Buehler has yet to allow more than three runs in a start since April 4.

Buehler is expected to return from the injured list by mid-May and be a key piece in the Red Sox rotation. Stash Buehler while he's available in nearly half of the leagues.
