Week 9 Running Back Outlooks for Fantasy Football

Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers - Fantasy Football Outlook

With Carolina Panthers rookie running back Jonathan Brooks (knee) out and still not activated from his 21-day practice window, running back Chuba Hubbard remains the beneficiary of Carolina's rushing attack. Hubbard will face a weak New Orleans defense in Week 9, which ranks 28th against running backs and has allowed 100 or more rushing yards in their last four games.

However, against Denver, Hubbard recorded his lowest fantasy output since Week 1 and has seen his points trend downward over the previous month. His touches have remained consistent, with 15 or more rushing attempts in his last three games. The dip in production has Hubbard ranked as RB21 this week, according to RotoBaller, as he remains a fine flex option.

- Travis Kincaid, RotoBaller

J.K. Dobbins, Los Angeles Chargers - Fantasy Football Outlook

Los Angeles Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins will look for another good week in a Week 9 matchup against the Cleveland Browns. Dobbins was solid against the New Orleans Saints in a Week 8 win, putting up 57 yards and a touchdown on the ground to go with four catches on seven targets through the air.

It wasn't his most effective game on a per-touch basis, but his continued heavy involvement in both parts of the offensive game plan is encouraging. Dobbins was given Thursday off this week, as he missed practice for a rest day, but he enters the game with no injury designation after returning to a full practice on Friday.

Dobbins is a steady and reliable RB2 option with weekly RB1 upside, especially with the Chargers offense finally starting to move the ball well over the past couple of games.

- David A. Marcillo, RotoBaller

Rico Dowdle, Dallas Cowboys - Fantasy Football Outlook

Dallas Cowboys running back Rico Dowdle missed last Sunday's loss to the San Francisco 49ers with an illness, but he's off the injury report and expected to play in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons. Dowdle is a likely candidate to lead Dallas' backfield in production.

After all, he led the Cowboys' running back room in snaps four times over the five-game span from Week 2 through 6. However, it's worth noting that he was out-snapped and out-produced by Ezekiel Elliott during their last game together in Week 6.

Presumably, Dowdle will get first dibs on carrying the ball versus Atlanta, but Dallas won't shy away from riding the hot hand, especially if Elliott or Dalvin Cook play well in the opening quarter. Fantasy managers should treat Dowdle as a low-end RB3 with a low floor and low ceiling.

- Andersen Pickard, RotoBaller
