MLB DFS: DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (8/13/24) - Today's Top Lineups

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. - Fantasy Baseball

Free daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for today's slate on DraftKings, FanDuel. Use Euan's MLB DFS expert picks to build winning DFS lineups on August 13, 2024.

Happy Tuesday, RotoBallers! With all 30 teams in action, the way the schedule fell has left a lighter slate for a Tuesday. Six early games mean DFS managers will only have nine games to fill up their roster on the featured contests. It all begins on the East Coast at 7:10 p.m. EDT when the A's meet the Mets and the Rangers visit the Red Sox.

DFS managers should always remember to check the starting lineups for teams, especially when squads face left-handed pitching. Managers love mixing, matching, and playing the platoon game with southpaws on the mound. For example, while Jake McCarthy is a left-handed hitter, Arizona has moved him up in their batting order with lefties on the mound. So, if DFS players keep a close eye on the lineup cards when they are announced, there could be a diamond in the rough to find for that evening's slate.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/13/2024 and the slate locking at 7:10 p.m. EDT. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is also essential.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Michael King - RHP, SD vs. Pirates ($9.5K DraftKings; $9.8K FanDuel)

Questions were asked when Michael King was the centerpiece of the Padres' return in their Juan Soto deal with the Yankees. Fortunately for the West Coast side, King has answered those questions and passed with flying colors. In a career-high 129.1 innings, the right-handed hurler has a 3.34 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 151 strikeouts. On Tuesday, King faces a Pirates outfit with the ninth-highest strikeout rate (24.3%) and seventh-lowest wRC+ (89) to right-handed pitching since the All-Star break.

Nestor Cortes - LHP, NYY vs. White Sox ($8.4K DK; $8.6K FD)

It doesn't feel good to trust Nestor Cortes as your SP2 on DraftKings or tournament flyer on FanDuel, but the matchup is too good to pass up. Despite allowing 19 earned runs in 19 innings since the All-Star break, DFS managers must consider rostering the Yankees southpaw against the White Sox. Since the break, Chicago has the fifth-highest strikeout rate (28.4%) and the worst OPS (.518) and wOBA (.233) versus left-handed pitching. It may end in disaster, but the upside is there for Cortes on tonight's slate.

Also consider: Kutter Crawford vs. TEX, Kevin Gausman at LAA, Charlie Morton at SF

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Travis d'Arnaud - C, ATL at Kyle Harrison ($4.3K DK; $2.9K FD)

Sean Murphy - C, ATL at Kyle Harrison ($4.2K DK; $2.6K FD)

Either Atlanta catcher is in play tonight when the Braves meet Kyle Harrison on the mound. When d'Arnaud gets the starting nod, he tends to bat fifth, so DFS managers would prefer to see him behind the plate on Monday. However, Murphy also sees his fair share of playing time versus southpaws, so this will be a late call, considering it's a West Coast game and the slates lock at 7:10 p.m. EDT. If d'Arnaud gets the start, he'll look to continue his recent power surge that's seen him blast three home runs in his last five starts.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. - 1B/3B, TOR at Carson Fulmer ($5.5K DK; $3.7K FD)

The 22-game hit streak may have ended, but that doesn't mean DFS managers should forget about Vladimir Guerrero. The fact this was the second time he's reached a 22-game hit streak in his career is absurd, but he did some significant damage in this run. In 22 games and 95 plate appearances, the Blue Jays infielder slashed .494/.558/1.025 with 24 runs, 22 RBI, and 22 extra-base hits (10 home runs). Despite a 3.00 ERA, Carson Fulmer owns a 44.9% Hard Hit % this season, and Guerrero would love to start a new streak.

Michael Massey - 2B, KC at Zebby Matthews ($4.0K DK; $2.8K FD)

Leadoff hitter at $4.0K on DK and below $3.0K on FD alert! When you bat in front of Bobby Witt Jr., you only need to get on base. On the year, Michael Massey has a .290 OBP, but he's turned that around in recent games. The second baseman has a hit in seven of his last eight starts and racked up eight runs, five RBI, and three extra-base hits in that stretch. The Royals face Twins rookie Zebby Matthews on Monday, and their third-best offense (130 wRC+) against RHPs should give the 24-year-old a rude awakening to the major league level.

Also consider: LaMonte Wade Jr., Josh Bell, David Hamilton, Eugenio Suarez, Zach Neto

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Masataka Yoshida - OF, BOS vs. Jose Urena ($4.1K DK; $3.0K FD)

The discounted outfielder pool is deep on Tuesday's schedule, so DFS players need to load up at other positions. With Jarren Duran (suspension) out tonight, everyone in the Red Sox order will move up. This will benefit the hot-hitting Masataka Yoshida against Jose Urena. Over his last seven games, the 31-year-old has raised his season-long OPS from .717 to .761 thanks to 10 hits, two doubles, and two home runs, where he gathered four runs and five RBI.

Jake McCarthy - OF, ARI vs. Austin Gomber ($3.9K DK; $2.9K FD)

Despite being a left-handed hitter, Jake McCarthy has moved up the lineup when Arizona faces a southpaw. Today should be the same when the Diamondbacks face Austin Gomber. It doesn't hurt that McCarthy is averaging 14.22 FanDuel PPG or has three multi-hit efforts with three home runs in his previous four starts. DFS managers need to get the 27-year-old outfielder in their lineups and let the outfielder rack up those fantasy points batting between Ketel Marte, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (if he's healthy), and Josh Bell.

Alex Verdugo - OF, NYY at Jonathan Cannon ($3.3K DK; $2.8K FD)

Alex Verdugo is the beneficiary of a lack of leadoff options for New York. The former Red Sox outfielder has a .298 OBP but continues to hit ahead of Juan Soto and Aaron Judge. It shows how poor the season has been for Verdugo when you see he's only scored 58 runs in 114 games. Regardless, this is a leadoff hitter for the Yankees at an incredibly low price, and the 28-year-old has shown signs of life at the plate in recent games with a six-game hit streak.

Also consider: Shohei Ohtani, Marcell Ozuna, Jackson Chourio, Joey Loperfido, Jackson Merrill
