Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Adds If You Lost Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Kyle Tucker, Mookie Betts, or Fernando Tatis Jr. To Injury?

Jose Siri - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Prospects

Mike discusses some fantasy baseball players to consider adding off the waiver wire if you lost Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Kyle Tucker, Mookie Betts, or Fernando Tatis Jr. to injury.

We have lost some big names in fantasy baseball to injuries. Mookie Betts (wrist), Bryce Harper (hamstring), Fernando Tatis Jr. (quadriceps), Kyle Tucker (lower leg), and Kyle Schwarber (groin) are all currently on the injured list.

There is no replacing these players in fantasy baseball, unless you go the trade route to bolster your roster. However, no one on the waiver wire can come close to matching the level of production that those stars bring to the table.

Despite not being able to replicate that type of production from the waiver wire, that doesn’t mean there aren’t some players who can help fantasy managers stay afloat until these stars return. Let’s highlight some players to consider adding who are still available in the majority of Yahoo leagues.

Jesse Winker, Washington Nationals (OF)

Available in 49% of Yahoo leagues

Cheating a bit here with Winker owned in just over half of leagues. However, it’s still worth checking to see if he is available in yours. Power is not his forte, but he does have nine home runs to go along with his 12 stolen bases this season. For those who play in OBP leagues, his 13.7 percent walk rate has helped him generate a .376 OBP.

Andrew Vaughn, Chicago White Sox (1B)

Available in 57% of Yahoo leagues

Vaughn stands out as someone who could help managers who have lost Harper. He has been locked in at the plate, entering Tuesday hitting 33-for-98 (.337) with six home runs and four doubles over his last 25 games. He still has just a .693 OPS for the season and a .728 OPS for his career, but it might be possible to ride out his hot streak a little longer with Harper not expected to miss extended time.

Zach Neto, Los Angeles Angels (SS)

Available in 68% of Yahoo leagues

Neto only has a career .237 batting average and .311 wOBA. Those marks aren’t much better this season with his .249 average and .321 wOBA. However, he has shown a mix of power and speed that could make him a useful replacement for Betts. Through 81 games entering Tuesday, he has 11 home runs and 11 stolen bases.

Jose Siri, Tampa Bay Rays (OF)

Available in 76% of Yahoo leagues

Siri is someone to target for those looking to replace Schwarber. While Schwarber doesn’t usually provide much in the batting average department, he brings a ton of power to the plate. This season, he has 17 home runs and a .197 ISO. Siri also hits for a low average, but provides plenty of power. Last season, he hit 25 home runs and had a .272 ISO over 101 games. This year, he has 11 home runs and a .199 ISO across 71 games.

Spencer Horwitz, Toronto Blue Jays (1B, 2B)

Available in 78% of Yahoo leagues

For those who were deploying Betts as their second baseman, or even those who could use the boost at first base with Harper out, don’t sleep on Horwitz. Throughout his time in the minors, he hit for a high average and showed a selective eye at the plate. Over 21 games with the Blue Jays this season entering Tuesday, he is batting .305 with a .400 wOBA. He has a stellar 16.2 percent walk rate to go along with his minuscule 12.2 percent strikeout rate.

Luke Raley, Seattle Mariners (1B, OF)

Available in 87% of Yahoo leagues

Raley was a valuable member of the Rays last season, posting 19 home runs and 14 stolen bases to go along with his .353 wOBA. Now a member of the Mariners, he has been a bit disappointing with his .188 ISO and .328 wOBA. However, he has caught fire of late, entering Tuesday hitting 8-for-26 (.308) with a .538 slugging percentage over his last seven games. For those who play in deeper formats, Raley is someone to at least consider.

Paul DeJong, Chicago White Sox (SS)

Available in 87% of Yahoo leagues

DeJong is a one-dimensional player. He doesn’t steal bases, he doesn’t hit for a high average, and he strikes out a ton. However, he has already hit 15 home runs over 80 games. Playing time won’t be an issue with the White Sox, so with plenty of at-bats coming his way, DeJong can provide a jolt of power for fantasy managers needing it out of the shortstop position.

Trent Grisham, New York Yankees (OF)

Available in 99% of Yahoo leagues

Finding viable players on the waiver wire in deep leagues can be difficult. For those who play in 15-team or deeper leagues, don’t sleep on Grisham. The Yankees highly value his defense, so he is going to play a lot with Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) out again. Jasson Dominguez (oblique) is also sidelined until late August, further depleting their outfield options. Entering Tuesday, Grisham is 5-for-16 (.313) with a double and a home run since Stanton hit the injured list.
